"No! God dammit Brendon no one wants to hear your Shakira impression."

"It's so good though!"

"Babe I love you but no it's not."

"This is homophobic."

Tyler smiled as every laughed loudly.

He was with Joshua and his friends at the diner he had met the latter at before. Joshua had his arm wrapped around Tyler.

Tyler's mom has agreed to let him eat dinner there as long as he told her what he was getting in advance and she could approve of it.

He picked a fry up and took a bite as Brendon did his Shakira impression.

"You know my hips don't lie—"

"Brendon shut the fuck— wait that was actually really good," Hayley began but stopped once she realized what she heard.

Brendon grinned. "I know."

Dallon laughed and kissed his forehead.

Joshua glanced over and looked down at Tyler. "You okay, baby?"

Tyler gave him a look of confusion. "Yeah, why?"

"Just checking on you," Joshua replied.

"You guys are cute," Hayley cooed. "I'm so glad you got back together. You're like meant for each other."

They two looked at one another and Joshua pressed a light kiss to his lips. "I'm glad we got back together too."

"I love you," Tyler smiled.

"I love you too."

"Awww..." Hayley gushed. "Yeah you guys are definitely cuter than Dallon and Brendon. No offense, Dallon."

"Wow," Brendon scoffed. "I see how it is. It's not like I gave you the last jump rope on the playground when we were in fourth grade or anything."

"How the hell do you remember that?" Joshua asked.

Brendon shrugged. "I don't keep anything else in my brain."

Everyone laughed and Brendon just grinned. Suddenly, he gasped. "What?" Hayley asked.

"I kept one another thing in my brain!" Brendon turned to Dallon. "Don't forget to pick up your suit for tomorrow!"

"Oh, shit!" Dallon turned to look at Brendon. "They're closed now; I'll get it in the morning."

"You better," Brendon gave him a warning look.

"What does he need a suit for?" Tyler asked curiously, taking another fry off his plate.

"Prom!" Hayley replied excitedly.

"Prom?" Tyler asked.

"Prom is this dance that—" Brendon began but was cut off.

"I don't have it at my school but I know what prom is, Brendon," Tyler rolled his eyes playfully. "I just didn't know you guys were having it tomorrow."

Hayley, Dallon, and Brendon all turned to give Joshua a look. "What?"

Hayley reached over the table to smack his head. He scowled and rubbed his head. "You didn't ask Tyler to prom?"

"I didn't think we'd be together for prom!" Joshua replied defensively. "We broke up, remember?"

"Yeah but then you've had all week to ask him, man," Dallon pointed out.

"I didn't think he'd want to go!"

"I'm sitting right here," Tyler deadpanned.

They all collectively seemed to realize that Tyler was, in fact, sitting with them as they discussed this.

"Uh..." Joshua looked nervous and guilty. "Did you uh... so you and I... do you..."

"Oh my fucking God if you don't ask Tyler to prom then I will," Hayley groaned.

Joshua flipped her off before looking at Tyler. He grabbed his plate of fries and slid them towards himself. "What are you— Joshua, are you touching my food?" Tyler asked with a disgusted look on his face.

Joshua shushed him and then laughed. Tyler watched him rearrange the last few fries he had until he it read 'PROM?' "I think you're supposed to like this big ass gesture but we're sitting in a diner and I didn't know you wanted to go to prom until a minute ago but... Tyler, would you do me the honors of going to prom with me?"

Tyler smiled and pressed a kiss to Joshua's lips. "Yes, I'll go to prom with you," he paused. "And don't touch my food again I don't know where your hands have been."

"Oh yes you do," Joshua winked and took a fry from the question mark as Tyler's face turned bright red.

Brendon's eyes widened and a grin spread onto his face. He didn't say anything but sent a happy wink towards Tyler. Tyler smiled a little at that.

"Aw wait," Hayley pouted. "I'm gonna have to fifth wheel."

The other four laughed and Joshua brought his arm back up to rest upon Tyler's shoulders.

Tyler looked up at him and pressed a kiss to his lips. "I love you, Joshua."

"I love you too."

---

It was nearing eight when Joshua dropped Tyler off. He technically didn't have a bed time anymore but Joshua was scared of Tyler's mom after getting embarrassingly interrogated at the dinner the other night. Plus, his curfew to at least be home was 8:30 on weekends.

Tyler opened his front door and shut it behind him, letting out a breath as he slipped his shoes off.

"How was dinner?"

He looked over to see his mom sitting on the couch, a cup of tea in front of her as she had her reading glasses on and a book in her hand.

Tyler smiled. "It was good. Joshua's friends are very nice. I enjoy their company," he paused, knowing he would have to bring up what was asked at dinner. "I um actually would like to discuss something with you if I may."

Kelly nodded. "What is it?"

Tyler took a deep breath and took a step closer, his hands moving together as he twiddled his thumbs. "So uh—"

"Stop fidgeting," his mom spoke, nodding towards his hands as she peered down over her glasses.

Tyler's hands went to his sides and he resumed talking. "Joshua asked me to attend his prom with him. I told him I would love to go and I would."

"When is it?"

"Tomorrow."

"Tomorrow?"

Tyler instantly felt guilty for even bringing it up. "I'm sorry if it's too short notice but Joshua wasn't planning on asking me because he didn't think that was something I wanted to do and he also didn't think we were getting back together and I really would like to go but it's alright if I can't—"

His mother cut him off with a sigh. "There's no way we'll have time to get you a suit. You'll have to wear one of your church event suits."

Tyler froze. "Wait, so I can go?"

Kelly nodded. "I don't see why not."

Tyler's face lit up. "Really?"

His mom let out a small chuckle. "Yes. Now, go get ready for bed."

"Thank you!" He smiled widely.

"Goodnight, Tyler."

"Goodnight, Mother!"
