Maharshi Valmiki's hermitage 'Manivati' is situated on the plain land, which is just initiated beneath the feet of the Great Himalayan mountain range, by the side of a tributary river. The scenic beauty around the hermitage is excellent! Five main rivers along with their tributaries and distributaries have nurtured the prosperity of this entire, denser green zone; incessant rainfall added abundance to their presence.
The river that passes by the side of the hermitage is known as 'Saraswati'. After crossing the hermitage, it kept pushing forward covering through a large distance ahead; then it ends up with the main river of 'MahaSindhu'. It is said that in the estuary of these two rivers, once upon a time there was a city of an ancient civilisation of the non-Aryans that lasted for centuries. This civilisation was vast, far-stretched with many cities and the wonders in it. They had a distinguishable irrigation system, remarkable water preservation method and legendary architectural wonders with them. Aryans, despite the advantage of their horses and iron-made advanced weapons, were finding it difficult to overcome them. At last, someday, some unknown forces destroyed this civilisation overnight! Nobody was sure what caused this destruction all of a sudden; but rumours say, that the wrath of the Titans fell upon it – their curse put this civilisation out significantly within moments! Many citizens lost their lives; Casualties were such high that their bodies were piled up in many places. Due to a vast number of presence of these stacked corpses, one of these cities were named after it. Maharshi Valmiki can't recall the local name of this particular city, but the literal meaning of it was 'The stack of the dead'.
Those who survived the wrath drifted to the East first; but soon when Aryan invasion spread across the land, they were forced to be drifted towards South, behind the shade of 'Vindya' mountain. They formed their own kingdom there. It is also said that King Shailendra was descendent to the same non-Aryan race, and so as the rest of the inmates there. However, King Shailendra is dead now for good!
