The frightening crack of the thunder woke me up and I sat in the bed in silence. My throat suddenly felt dry and I slid out of the bed and towards the door. I just hope I don't get lost. I open the door of the room I was staying in and stepped out. I had no slipper so I walk down the dimly lit halls barefooted.
I followed the path stuck in my head and thankfully, it led me towards the stairs. I descended down and soon found my way to the kitchen. I had to open all the cupboards before I finally found where they placed all the cups. I grab one glass and filled it with tap water.
I chug it down and felt relief.
Someone cleared their throat behind me and I nearly dropped the glass. I turn to look at where the sound came from and I saw a tall frame leaning against the door. It was kind of dark so it was hard to see his face but I can tell he was muscular and fit.
I placed the glass on the sink and chuckled nervously, "I'm sorry, I just got thirsty and decided to drink water," I apologized and stared at the figure anxiously.
"Who are you?"
The voice was familiar and I froze on my spot. I must be still dreaming. Yep. I must still be dreaming. I rub my eyes and gave the figure another stare.
"Are you gonna answer me or what?"
I blink a couple of times before clearing my throat awkwardly. "I'm Temperance, Jodie's friend. She let me stay in for the night, she'll probably kick me out tomorrow. If she will not then her fiance might," I rambled and went silent.
The figure shifted and the man stood straight and started walking towards me. I cowered a bit in the dark and chewed on my bottom lip nervously.
The man didn't go straight to me, he stop before the light of a small wall sconce reveal his face. He just stood their as if he was studying me.
"Well you better head back to your room before her fiance will come down and kick you out of the house,"
I nodded and run pass him and towards the stairs. I run as fast as I could until I reach the room I was staying in. I slam the door shut and lean on it and slid on the ground, out of breath.
I made sure the door was lock before I headed back towards the bed and I fell back asleep.

I woke the next day, refreshed and calm. I took a quick bath in the bathroom before rummaging inside my suitcase. I decided to settle on a hot pants paired with an oversized white shirt that I stole from my ex after I broke up with him.
I gave myself look in the mirror before grinning. I grab the comb on the table and run it in my wet hair. After I was sure that I was presentable, I walk out of the room and headed to Jodie's room.
I knock on her door and after a couple of minutes, she opened it.
She look at me for a second before pulling me inside and slamming the door behind her. I stood very still and watch as she rummage inside her wardrobe, pulling all sorts of clothes.
"What are you doing?" I asked and picked up the clothes lying on the ground and created a neat pile on the side. She looked frustrated.
Her hair was standing in different directions and her mascara was running down her face as if she was crying awhile ago.
"I'm looking for a formal attire for your job interview in Sean's company," she replied hastily and I crinkled my nose, "I don't remember applying for a job and who's Sean?" I asked and Jodie squealed as she pulled out a black godet.
"This is absolutely perfect for you," she squealed and threw the skirt at me and dive back in her wardrobe.
"Who is Sean?" I asked again and she look at me briefly before rummaging inside her wardrobe once again, "He's my fiance though that's his second name, he never allows anybody to call him his first name. He has this strange belief about soulmates and everybody had one, or so he says. Sometimes he reminds me of an elder man, he talks like one and acts like one, that's what makes him so charming," Jodie replied and pulled out a white long sleeved blouse and a black jacket.
She threw it at me and I caught it. "You like him?" I asked and she shook her head, "We were forced so he's kind of seeing the situation as some sort of a sin, I have my eyes on his brother, Everest," Jodie said and ushered me towards the bed.
For the whole hour, she dressed me up and did my hair and face. She made me wear a pump and some perfume which I highly objected but she insisted.
After everything, she prepped herself before we head out to the dining room and ate breakfast. She led me towards her car after and we drove towards, what a assume, to Sean's company.
We pulled up in front of a tall gray building with lots of marble statues out in the front. She dragged me inside and rushed inside the elevator and pressed down on the 60 button and I made a face.
When we reached the 60th floor, she dragged me against towards a door in the very end of the hall and shoved me inside the room and left me alone in front of a woman wearing the tightest dress I have ever seen.
She look up from her desk and smiled at me, looking forced. "Hi, you must be Temperance Perey, I am Penelope Hall and I'm the secretary," we shook hands and she led me to a seat.
"You are applying for the position of a personal assistant. Mr. Moriarty doesn't tolerate tardiness and other failures. Unfortunately, Mr. Moriarty doesn't do face to face interview so I'm going to ask you questions and please answer clearly and face the camera in my desk," Penelope said and motioned at the small black box with red light blinking.
I turn to look at it and took a deep breath.
"Have you finished college?"
"No, I dropped out in the midterm in my fourth year, financial problems,"
"Do you have experience in terms of business?"
"My previous work was all about accountancy,"
"Do you have what it takes as Mr. Moriarty's personal assistant?"
"Yes, I have the will and determination. I believe that I can handle the job given to me because my determination will push me forward to do my best,"
Penelope's eyes widened for a second before she gave me a forced smile, "You will know the result in about a minute or more," she said and turn to her computer and typed.
I sat their awkwardly. The phone on her desk rung and she placed it on her ear. I watch her as she nodded and gave me a stare down before setting the phone back to the desk.
"You got the job, you will be starting tomorrow and please be here in seven sharp," Penelope turn her back on me and I stood up and walk of the room. I saw Jodie standing in front of a man wearing a business suit, his hair scraped back in his head, his handsome face free from any distraction.
She was leaning on him unnoticeable and so was he to her and both of them were looking into each other with a smile filled with something big wished I had, love.
So this was Everest. "Jodie," I called and both of them turn to look at me and they jump away from each other. I walked towards her and smiled, "I got the job," I grinned and she mirrored my grin, "That's great Temper, let's eat out, my treat," she grab my forearm and dragged me to the elevator.
She shot a wink to the man before we entered the elevator and descended down. "So that was Everest," I drawled and she turned red, "Shut up," she said and I laugh loudly.
