I woke up an hour before we were going to land. Jodie and Everest were wide awake, playing pool together with Timmy and Roxanne. Justin was nowhere in sight. Pete and Penelope were still in the bar and by the way they were moving, I suppose they were slightly tipsy.
I sat up from the sofa and stretched. Jodie saw me awake and headed towards me.
"Hey sleeping beauty, had a nice nap?"
"Better. Where's Justin?" I asked and Jodie pointed toward a door, "In the bathroom, he's been their for more than thirty minutes, give or take,"
I frowned, "Why? Are you worried?" The sound of her voice made me know that she was taunting me and I glared at her, "He's my friend Jodie, I worry for my friends,"
Jodie turned red and started laughing, she had a hand in her belly as she continue to laugh, "That's a serious thing to say. No wonder Justin's been not himself after he started pursuing you,"
This time, I was the one who turn red. I wasn't really used to anyone who shows affection towards me. Back in the day, I was always been known as stinky Temper because of how I smell. I had hygienic problem when I was in highschool. We had no money to pay for the water in the apartment so I only took a bath once a week and the smell is never pleasant. I do take a shower in the locker room after PE but those locker rooms were disgusting.
I feel guilty for rejecting Justin three times in one month but I learned from my mistakes. Ever since the previous life before the present time and the previous life where I fell for a soldier named Ben, my life took a turn if ever I fall for someone.
To be honest, I did had a small affection with my master in my previous life but when he mentioned marriage to me, I flipped out, I couldn't bear to marry someone as cruel as him and for that mistake, he had separated my head from my body.
He had the same aura as Ben and now, I just fear to repeat the same mistake again, to love somebody.
A sharp pain spread in my chest for a sudden moment and my vision grew black. I felt hands grab my shoulders and voices shouting but they seem to sound like bees, buzzing like one.
It only was for a couple of minutes and my sight came back again. I blink furiously and I saw Jodie's face right in front of me. I move back slightly, startled at the proximity of our faces. She moved back a little and I could clearly see the worry etched in her face.
"What happened?" I ask her, my mind was completed blank and empty. She looked at me for a second before she told Everest to give me a glass of water.
"You suddenly hunch over and," Jodie paused and glanced at the floor, "vomited...blood,"
I turn to look at where she was looking and I saw a small stain of something red in the carpet. Now that she mentioned it, I felt a slight taste of something metallic in my mouth. I grimaced and licked my lips.
"Temperance, do you have any health problems that you might want to tells us?" Everest asked when he handed me the glass of water. I thanked him and took a sip. Everyone was surrounding me but Justin was still not in sight. After taking a sip, I wiped my mouth and shook my head, "I have none except for being allergic to all kinds of nuts,"
"Do you feel light-headed now or your chest feeling slightly tight?" Everest continued and I shook my head. I rub the part above my heart and narrowed my eyes at the ground, "Does it hurt?" Jodie asked in worry when she noticed me rubbing the spot.
"No but I did feel a sharp pain when my vision turned black," I replied and offered her a reassuring smile. "Does anyone in your family have heart conditions?" Now I'm doubting if Everest is really a business man or a doctor.
"Not that I know of but I guess none,"
"Its probably the pressure, you might not be used with riding a plane," Penelope spoke up and I glance up at her to see her looking worried as everybody else.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, may I please have your attention..." The sound of the speaker made us jump. "We are about to land, please take your seats and fasten your seatbelts, thank you," a few crackling sounds and the speaker died down.
They all sent me skeptical looks before the headed to their own seats and fastened their seatbelts but their eyes were still trained on me. "Just tell us if you are not feeling well," Jodie called out and I nodded.
Once we landed, they all huddled back towards me and this time, Justin was with them looking lost and asking questions of what happened.
We went out of the plane and headed to a car, parked a couple of meters right in front of the stairs. I look back to the plane, expecting Sean to appear but only a few stewardess and the pilot followed us. I felt... disappointed to the fact that I wasn't able to see his face ever since I worked with him and he was not in the plane.
Jodie being attentive as she was, walked over to me and slung her arm on my shoulder, "If you're looking for Sean, he's in the driver's seat, he went down first and headed straight to the car, he'll be the one to drive us to the hotel," she said and poked my cheek.
"I wasn't looking for him," I mumbled and she continued on poking me and taunting the heck out of me. Everest joined in and my face felt hot.
We hop in the car and drive off.
