- Seventh Lifetime-
"I'm heading out mom," I called out and put on my shoes. Her muffled yes echoed back to me and I dash out of the house.
It was a beautiful day for a walk. It was Sunday and obviously, there was no school. My friend Hailey invited me to go check out a hill that she and her boyfriend Jeremy had recently hanged out.
Unfortunately, Hailey got grounded and Jeremy caught a flu so I decided to check it out on my own. I rode a bus to where Hailey told me the hill was located. I decided to take a stroll around the place first before heading out.
By noon, I was climbing up the hill and took a deep breath. When I reached the top, I saw a lone tree standing over the top, I walk over it and smiled. "This place is incredible," I gasp at the sight of the buildings in front of me. I plop myself down on the ground and cross my legs.
I stretch my hands out and shouted. My voice echoed back to me and I started laughing.
The remaining time before sunset, I was picking up flowers and placing it around the tree roots. The wind was cold up here and I shivered slightly.
As I walk around the tree, I saw a faint marking by the trunk. I leaned over and saw a messy handwriting that written E+T and an infinity symbol above it. I scoffed and threw a rock at it, "Probably some stupid teenagers," I chuckled and leaned my back on the tree, enjoying the last of daylight.
Something sharp suddenly digged in my back and I hissed. A red scratch mark was visible on my forearm and I groaned, rubbing the spot.
Something caught my eye and I tilted my head curiously. There was a hole in the tree, a few inches below that messy marking. I reach over it hesitantly. Once my hand was inside, something smooth and sharp grazed my fingers and I pull my hand out immediately.
"What the hell was that?"
A tug in my chest made me to do it again and when my hand wrapped around the thing that grazed my fingers, I pull it out and I saw a picture probably from a Polaroid camera. One line of words was written at the back and it goes like "To our next meeting".
I flip the picture around and I gasp, I saw myself wrapped in the arms of a man that was very familiar that I couldn't put my finger on it.
"To our next meeting," the read the words out loud and I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. The woman in the picture certainly looked like me but she was a lot more mature than me and she was glowing, her smile was so big and sincere... filled with love.
The man had the same smile as her and they seem to be so happy with each other's arms.
The sound of a twig snapping came from behind me and I turn to look. I saw sea green with a hint of sapphire blue eyes. Something sparked inside of me and a thought nudged inside of my head.
All the memories came crashing down on me and I stood there very still. A boy with the same age as mine with ash brown hair and sea green with a hint of sapphire blue eyes stood before me.
A smile broke into my face and tears rolled down my cheeks, "Everett?" I breath out and the boy grinned at me, the same grin as I remember him do, "Temperance,"
I threw myself in his arms and he twirled me around. When we broke away from each other, he placed his hands on my waist and I wrap my arms around him, staring straight through his eyes. "I knew you'd come one day," he whispered and I nodded with a smile, "To our next meeting, remember? You promised me," I laugh and he leaned forward. "I'll love you forever Temperance, not even time can pull us apart," he placed his lips on mine and another life was sealed with another kiss.
