Kerri's P.O.V

He didn't let my hand go until we were standing outside my room, and only then because I promised to see him as soon as I physcially could, and I had kissed him. Multiple times. I'm not sure what caused this sudden change in attitude, but I knew I liked it. I regretted kissing Charlie even more than I regretted my year 7 school play, and that was a disaster (but I won't go into it; there was blood). The best thin that came out of this was that now I know Jacob truly does love me, otherwise he couldn't have forgiven me. And he would never have taken me back! I was never going to hurt him again, I decided, before I shut the door to confront Lexi.

"Hey Kerri, you took your time," she said. She was rummaging in a draw before she exclaimed happily and turned around to face me.

"Found it!" she cried, holding up a maroon jumper that looked so warm I was seriously considering asking to borrow it. Permanently.

"Hey, you look happy and guilty at the same time," she said with a smirk, "what'd you do?"

"You're not going to believe it..." I said, scuffing my toe on the carpet self-conciously, hoping Lexi would understand.

"Believe what?" Lexi asked, sitting down and patting the bed beside her.

"Well, you know how I went down to the stables because I left my scarf?"

"Yeah..."

"Well, Jacob followed me down. I hoped he wouldn't talk to me because I thought he was only there to see his horse, but when I left he followed and ran after me."

"Then what?" Lexi asked, leaning towards me.

"He told me he still loves me," I said, looking at the floor.

"What?" she exclaimed, clamping a hand over her mouth.

"And then he kissed me."

"WHAT!" she screamed, "is that why I heard kissing outside the door?"

The question was so ridiculous, and coming from a completely serious Lexi, that I couldn't help but laugh. Then I couldn't stop, and I was lying on my back and letting everything out. Jacob loves me! Jacob kissed me! And we are back together, forever. I will never let him, and I will never let Charlie get in the way ever again. When I was done with my fit of hysteria, Lexi pulled me back up to a sitting position, and then got serious.

"So, what are you two going to do?"

"What?" I asked, confused at the question.

"Lex, we're getting back together!" I told her.

"No, I mean, about the whole Charlie thing. And then you need to sort out Adam, and Jayson, and Anna," she told me, and all her truth brought me back to reality; down from the high of that euphoric kiss.

"Today was a good day," I said.

"Yeah, must've been for you," Lexi replied.

"No, I mean before that. When it was just you me and Adam, I love that. You guys are my two best friends, and I don't want to hurt either of you. Lex, if you have any doubts about this whatsoever, please tell me now." Lexi breathed deeply, then looked me in the eyes and said,

"Kerri, you are most definitely the best friend I have ever had, and if you want to get back with the first guy you've ever really liked then I am 100% behind you. No matter what."

I pulled her into a giant hug, a tear dripping onto her shoulder.

"Thank you," I whispered.
