I woke up to Lexi jumping on the end of my bed and screaming,
"Rise and shine sleeping beauty!"
"Lex," I groaned, rolling over to face away from her, "five more minutes!"
"You said that twice already Kerri, it's 7:15 already!"
"Cr/p!" I cried, throwing myself out of bed. Breakfast was at 7:45; I needed to get a move on. Lexi had already had a shower, so I jumped in while she got dressed. By the time I was out Lexi was dressed and sitting at the vanity applying her make-up and blow drying her hair.
"Time check?" I asked her when she turned off the dryer for a second to comb her hair through.
"Erm, 7:32," she replied, "oh, Kerri, your uniform is in the second drawer at the bottom of the cupboard."
"Thanks," I called, rushing to the cupboard to grab my uniform. I threw it on, fixing my skirt, and clumsily doing up the buttons.
"Kerri, c'mon I'll do your make-up!" Lexi shouted. I rushed over and instantly she was at my eyes with eyeliner and mascara.
"Thank god you have no spots!" she cried, grabbing the lipgloss. When she was done I grabbed the hairdryer and hastily did my hair. I was done by 7:41.
"Not bad for my first day, huh?" I asked Lexi, posing in front of the full length mirror that was attached to the inside of one of the cupboard doors.
"No, not bad at all," Lexi agreed, joining me and pulling a ridiculous face. We both laughed, then bolted out the door when the clock chimed for breakfast.
When we walked into the main hall for breakfast, I saw Jacob and Jayson waiting for us with free spaces at the Austen table.
"Clark and Adam are in Verne," Lexi explained to me as we walked over to sit with Jacob and Jayson.
"Morning Lex," Jayson chimed as Lexi approached the table. She beamed back at him as she slid into the seat beside him. That left me with the seat next to Jacob. Fantastic! I sat down awkwardly, accidentally brushing Jacob's arm as I moved.
"Sorry," I said, blushing like mad.
"It's cool," Jacob told me, his voice smooth, a hint of a smile on his face.
I looked across the table to see Lexi grinning at me, then winking and pointing discreetly at Jayson. I laughed, which caused Jacob to ask,
"What's so funny Kerri?"
"Oh, nothing. I just remembered something Lexi and I were talking about last night.
"Oh, anything we'd know about?"
"I don't know, depends how-ow!" I was interrupted but a sharp kick in the shin from Lexi. I looked up to her from rubbing my leg, and she had a frown on her face. I mouthed a big 'sorry' at her, which earned us both a very odd look from the boys.
I could tell my first say was going to be very entertaining...
