I slept in the stables that night, refusing to go back to that party. I had let Bloom and Sky both down. I was one bad princess. The next morning I returned to the palace. I snuck up to my room and sat at my desk. A scrap of parchment rested on it with a pen and the locket that I had thrown there. I began to think about that day again. Prince Mathew's mother told me that a powerful spell is at work. What did that mean? Suddenly I got another migraine. It was worse than the one I got at the palace of Linfea. I fell to the floor and closed my eyes.
"Lilly!" Someone screamed.
I opened my eyes and wasn't in my room anymore. I was in a foggy room. A voice was calling to me from the corner. I looked at there stood Bloom.
"Bloom!" I yelled and ran to her. "You look weak. What happened? Are you injured?"
She stood up and brushed her skirt. "I'm fine. The trix's spell made me a bit weak but I'm okay."
"Who's the trix?" I asked.
She gasped and covered her mouth with her hand. "You don't remember."
"Remember what Bloom?" I asked. "Where are we? Who are you talking about?"
"Lilly I can only talk for a few moments." She whispered. "The trix are three witches who put a spell on you. A spell that would change your fate. You are in an alternate universe while Stella, Flora, Musa, Tecna, Aisha, Mathew, and I are trapped in their prison. You need to find a way to break the spell."
My eyes widened. "I..I...."
"I have to go but remember, all the memories you think you have, all the people you think you love, they aren't real. You need to let them go and break the spell." She said and hugged me. "Goodbye little sister."
And she faded.
"Bloom!" I shouted. "Bloom please! I need you!"
But she was gone. And I was back in my bedroom, panting heavily. I was exhausted. I stood up and felt something in my hand. It was a piece of paper. I opened it.
Lilly. I didn't know that the trix were listening to our chat. They are now coming after you, disguised as people you know, to erase your memory again. Don't trust anyone. They may have taken your powers, so you are vulnerable now. Protect yourself. Be safe. Break the spell.
-Bloom
I stared at the note with a heavy heart. The life I have lived for the past few days isn't real? Just an alternate universe? My family, the memories they have of me, or another me, are all fake? I can't process this. And now I can't trust any of them. Now I have to protect myself. But how without my powers.
"Fire arrow!" I yelled and waved my hand but nothing happened.
Yup. No powers. I need a weapon. A weapon. The stables. The bow in the stables! I can use that until I break this spell. If I break the spell. How am I supposed to do that? Okay okay. One step at a time. First, I need to learn to use that bow. Next, I need to stay safe from the trix. Finally, I need to break the spell. There was a knock at my door and I jumped.
"C-come in." I stuttered and Bloom- well, fake Bloom, walked in.
"Hey sis." She smiled. "What are you up to?"
"Nothing." I croaked. "Um. Are you still upset with me?"
"No. After you left Sky asked me to dance but I told him to back off. I went to go find you but I couldn't." She said.
So if Bloom remembered last night, she couldn't be one of the trix. I guess I can trust Bloom.
Trust no one.
The phrase repeated in my head until I decided not to trust Bloom, even though she was most likely not one of them.
"Are you okay?" She asked.
"I'm fine." I said and plastered a fake smile across my lips. "Perfectly fine."
