I pulled the string back to my cheek, taking in a deep breath. I let the arrow go and watched. It flew gracefully through the air.

It was fast. And it was terrible. It landed in the grass a few feet away. I sighed and pulled another arrow out from the pack over my shoulders. I shot another and it flew past my target, nearly hitting an unsuspecting Daphne. She screamed and I ran to her.

"I'm so sorry Daphne. I didn't see you!" I told her.

"It's fine." She laughed and tried to calm down. "What are you doing with that thing?"

"I'm teaching myself to use it." I said nervously.

"Why?" She chuckled. "Aren't your powers enough of a weapon? Anyway, where did you find that? It looks ancient."

"In the stables." I said, thinking of a lie. "It looked cool so I decided to learn how to use it."

"We'll why don't you call Dad's weapons crafter? He could make you a better bow and teach you to use that thing properly." She smiled.

"Okay. I think I will." I smiled back. "Although, I do like this bow. I think I'll just take the lessons."

"Suit yourself." She said and walked

off.

I sat on the grass. Could Daphne be one of the trix? If she was why would she offer lessons? I couldn't be sure. I pulled an enchanted piece of paper out of my pocket. I wrote a note to dad's weapons trainer and dropped it. Before it touched the ground it caught itself and flew off out of the castle grounds. A few moments later it returned with my message gone and another replacing it.

Dear Princess,

It would be an honor to teach you the art of archery. I see, like your father you have an interest in weapons and other means of power than magic. I respect that. I will hold your first lesson when you wish. You may come to my shop in the village at any time to practice. Please do feel free to practice even when I am not in my shop.

Sincerely, Minworth

I decided that I would need to learn as soon as possible and walked to the stables. I saddled my horse and climbed on her back. I swatted the reins and sped off with my bow over my shoulder and my arrows strapped to my back. The ride to the village seemed longer and harder. My horse was giving me trouble, and struggling to get away. It wasn't like I was bad to her. She just tried to throw me off randomly.

When I arrived at the village weaponry I entered quietly. There were weapons of all kind hanging from the walls.

"Princess."

I spun around. Minworth was sitting behind a desk.

"Sorry. I didn't mean to frighten you." He said and I smiled. "So I assume that you wish to begin lessons today?"

"Yes." I said.

"Well then, shall we begin?"

Three Weeks Later

I let out my breath. I aimed at the target with the string of my bow pulled back. I blinked and stared at my target. Suddenly, I let go of the string and my arrow went flying toward to target. It collided with a bang and stuck out of the center circle.

"Impressive." Minworth praised.

"Thank you." I said and looked at the clock on the wall. "Oh no. I'm late!"

I threw my bow over my shoulder and climbed onto my horse. "Thanks Minworth! See you tomorrow!"

"Goodbye princess!" He called as I sped off.
