Amelia
Right now, I am on my way to the bowling alley to meet up with Gage.
Today is the day of our date! I am so excited, yet extremely terrified at the same time. What if I screw something up? What will he think? I do not want Gage thinking that I am crazy.
Gage offered to pick me up, but I politely declined. I needed to get my thoughts in order. Plus, I think being in a small space with him would have my nerves shooting through the roof.
I told Morgan about what was going on in my mind, and she offered to drive. She just dropped me off, and I am about to walk inside.
However, a big part of me is questioning whether I really should be doing this or not.
I was starting to get anxious with a lot of things at this point in time.
Was my hair okay? Did I smudge my makeup in the car? Was my outfit too casual?
I had this overwhelming need to look perfect while getting ready.
First impressions matter, so I texted Morgan who came over and helped me.
As I walked through the doors of the bowling alley, I set my eyes upon Gage's large figure. He was dressed in his normal apparel. A plain t-shirt, jeans, and a leather jacket all added up to create his outfit.
I hustled over once I realized that I was openly staring. Awkward!
I guess he heard my footsteps because his head shot up, and once he realized that it was me, a big grin bloomed on his face.
He quickly stood up, and that is when I saw the Lilys he was holding.
He bought me flowers? He is such a sweetheart!
"Hey, uh-- I brought these for you. I hope you like them. I didn't know what flowers you would like, but my little sister, Leah, was with me when I bought them and she thought they were pretty, so I bought them, ye-eah!" Gage exclaimed while stuttering through certain parts.
He did look sheepish, and he even occasionally rubbed the back of his neck after he lightly shoved them in my hands.
Was he nervous? Even if he wasn't, I still really appreciated the thought of these.
So, I reached out and gave him a quick one-armed hug as I was still holding the pretty flowers.
"I love them. Thank you, Gage".
"You're welcome!" Gage muttered those words quickly and his cheeks were slowly starting to don a blush.
He is so cute! Ahh!
I snapped out of my thoughts quickly when a shop attendant asked us what size shoes we needed.
I was confused at first, because I was not sure what he meant by that, but then I quickly realized he meant bowling shoes.
After Gage and I told him our shoe sizes, he quickly hustled back with them.
I was just about finished with tying the laces, when Gage started the smack-talk.
"Amelia, while I think you are absolutely adorable, you are about to face the ugly truth. You are getting crushed tonight," Gage said.
"Gage, dear, your ego must be too big if you think that is the truth. You don't know how I play. You don't know my strategies, and you certainly don't know the ugly truth you are about to face".
"Yeah? And what is that princess?" He asked while slowly getting closer.
"Both of my parents played for the big leagues. They met on opposing teams. So, bowling is in my blood," I stated, not backing away from the challenge I felt was about to come up.
