Amelia
It was now the day after my date with Gage, and I was getting the third degree from my parents.
Morgan had gone home a few hours ago, only after we stayed up all night talking about the date.
Unfortunately for me, she had announced to my parents that I went on a date.
Of course she did it right before she left, most likely knowing I would be ambushed with questions from my family.
That was when all hell broke loose.
My mom was shouting her approval while crying tears of joy, I'm assuming.
While my father on the other hand, was demanding answers to his questions.
My dad was really over protective of me, and I really appreciated that.
However, at times it could be a bit much.
And now, was one of those times.
All I could hear was his nagging about this so-called 'nice' boy that I went out with.
But, my mom decided to intervene.
"John! That boy comes from a good mother! He is nothing but kind! I mean look at your daughter! She is clearly all smiles and giggles, let her be and ease up, old man!"
Thank you, mom.
"But Jen! I don't even know him!"
That is not helping your case, dad.
You just challenged my mother, and that will not end well for you.
Truthfully, I understand where he is coming from, but I also feel that he should not be comparing Gage to a boy from the past.
I believe that Gage is different from him.
I have to. If I choose to believe that all boys are evil, than I will constantly live in fear of the future.
In order for me to move on, I have to recognize deconstructive thoughts, and then combat them with positive ones.
I was still lost in my thoughts, until I heard my dad yelling at my mom.
"Jennifer, I love you, but please let's hold off from that line of thought please. My Amelia is still too young!"
Wait, what? What road are her thoughts going down now?
"Wait dad, what is she talking about?"
"Amelia, darling! You and that fine young man, Gage, are going to get married!"
"Wha-," I started to question, but was brutally cut off.
"And then you will gift me gorgeous grand babies!" My mother just continued going.
"But Mom, I'm t--," and yet again I was stopped by a hand shushing me.
"I want eight grand babies. And since you are my only child, it looks like you will be popping them all out!"
What drugs is this woman on?
Eight kids? No way, absolutely not. I refuse to have that many kids.
Where do these ideas even come from?
Her mind is just too imaginative sometimes.
Gage and I went on just one date, and she is this excited.
I don't even know if he is the love of my life, and she is already making wedding plans for me.
Who knows what will happen if him and I actually start dating.
