Gage
It had now been about twenty minutes since class started and I was beginning to get worried. I promised my mother that I would not skip class anymore after some recent reminders from the principal that if I had two more unexcused absences then I would be suspended for the week.
However, I think my mom would understand this one and call it in for me.
She really likes the idea of me having a crush, so I think maybe I could use this to my advantage. Is that using my mom? Kinda. Is it worth it to make sure that Amelia is safe? Absolutely.
I know that I have not known Amelia for long, but I do know that she has anxiety, and that she can get panic attacks if triggered.
I know what that's like. Not many people know this about me, but ever since my dad left, I have had a really hard time letting people in and it has caused some anxiety in the past.
I am really concerned for Amelia though.
Her body is so small, and to have an anxiety attack must be absolutely draining for her, especially if no one is with her.
I know Morgan does not have first period with her, but Amelia also left her phone in the classroom so I doubt she would be able to get ahold of someone unless it was by chance.
This was starting to get me really nervous.
I don't want to act like a clingy boyfriend especially because we aren't even together, but the thought of her needing me, and I'm not there has me immediately springing into action.
"Mrs. Smith, I will be right back, I have to take care of something," I said politely before sprinting out of the classroom.
I know a lot of people think I disregard feelings, and it's true; however, I do care about people. I even value their opinions.
Even if it is in secret, I still let them know how I am grateful for them in my life. I have a reputation to live up to and sometimes my walls break and others are able to see through them, and sometimes they are not.
I had checked about four hallways by the time I heard the sound of a leach laughing. I decided to creep closer because I want to make sure that it is Amelia that Lauren is with before doing anything drastic.
I squashed my head quietly on the door leading to the janitor's closet.
If Lauren was in there with Amelia, then I needed to make sure I heard everything in order to execute a plan to get her out of there, without causing a scene.
"You are pathetic Amelia Gardner, really you are. I mean, do you think anybody here would actually like you besides your gullible best friend Megan?" I heard Lauren taunting, and as soon as Amelia's name was mentioned, I tensed up and fists were immediately forming in my hands.
"Aw, how cute, you're starting to wheeze. Gage must think you are a pity case. That is truly the only reason he would want to be your friend. But the truth is honey, Gage does not actually think you're special. You are nothing to him, he told me. Him and I go way back".
I then heard Amelia start to cry a little bit, with her breathes picking up, I was just about to enter the bathroom, but I heard Lauren start to say something else.
"Amelia Gardner, you are nothing to Gage McKinley".
That was my breaking point, but right as I was about to push the door open I saw a floof of hair run past me, and I heard cackling coming from inside.
My gut instinct was telling me that it was just Amelia who left the bathroom.
After coming to that realization, I started sprinting after her, calling her name. It was no use. I was not able to catch up to her after she got that head start on me.
