Amelia
Morgan, the boys, and I are all standing by my locker just hanging around before our last period of the day starts.
We have about five more minutes until the bell rings.
"Amelia! Are you listening to me? I need you to be my wing woman!" Jax exclaims.
"Jax, why do I need to be your wing woman?" I questioned.
"Ugh! You crazy woman. I need you to put in a good word for me, and hype me up. Plus, it seems like you and Josie are friends. So if she trusts you, and you tell her that I am a good guy, than I know that I will actually have a chance!"
"Why does this matter Jax?"
"Because Amelia! I really like her. Did you not hear a thing I said?" Jax asked animatedly, waving his hands wildly in the air.
Right now, Jax is currently ranting about Josie, again. He swears that they belong together, and from the way he talks about her, maybe they do. She seems to throw him off track whenever he tries and flirts with her, and it is almost refreshing to not have someone fawn over him. His ego is way too big sometimes.
As he was finishing his story, bright pink talons came over to where I was and pushed between Gage and I, creating a spot for herself. At this point, all of us had stopped focusing on Jax's issues and was now paying attention to what the wicked witch of the west was doing over here, interrupting us.
However, Lauren just focuses on Gage, running her slimy fingers up and down his biceps. Eventually, Gage removes her hand from his arm, but it took way too long in my opinion. Why was he not moving away from her in the first place? This was weird and it kind of stung. What was going on with him.
It seems like I was not the only one curious and annoyed as pretty soon Jax asked Lauren a question.
"Lauren, what are you even doing? You understand that no one here likes you, correct?" Jax questioned, trying to taunt her.
"Ah ah, Jaxon. It seems that you have not been informed, but you are wrong," she stated while wearing a smirk.
"What ever could you possibly mean, Lauren? Nobody here would be caught dead with you," Jax responded back.
"Are you sure about that? Because Gage sure didn't seem to think so when we went on a date over the weekend," she said.
"You see, Lauren," Jax taunted while getting closer to her, "I don't believe you".
"Well Jaxon, I have proof. It seems that Gage here does not tell you everything like you think he does".
"Prove it, Lauren".
"Okay, but I warned you".
Lauren pulled out her phone and opened up her texts. Morgan, Maddox, Jax, and I always gasped at what we saw while Gage stayed quiet in the background.
[ Lauren // Gage ]
Are we still on for lunch, G? ; )
Yes.
Okay! See you soon!
See ya.
As soon as those words processed in my mind, my heart shattered.
Is that why he said he was busy?
He told me that he was watching Leah, but instead he was with Lauren.
Who is this person? This is not the person I was falling for.
I took a few steps away, as I started shaking, nervous that what she had said was true. Why would he meet up with her in the first place? Was what she said about me being a pity case, true? Did I really mean nothing to him?
My mind was just going in circles with these thoughts. I guess I was really just a fool all along.
However, Morgan soon pulled me next to her and stood in front of me protectively as she saw Gage coming over, begging me with his eyes not to believe her.
So I asked a question of my own. I needed to know the truth, and I was determined to get it.
"Is it true?" I asked him, begging it not to be. My eyes were starting to water, and he looked pained as he nodded.
"But, it wasn't a date. I promise you, Amelia," he cut in as his own eyes were starting to water a little bit.
"Then why were you with her, Gage?" I asked quietly, but it seemed like Lauren had heard because she jumped in with her own answer.
"Because he has always loved me, you meant nothing to him. You were simply entertainment for him and I," Lauren taunted with a smirk on her face, loving that she was getting a reaction out of me. However, I needed to hear it from Gage, and only Gage.
Except his answer did nothing but bring hurt to me and my heart.
"I can't tell you Amelia, I am so sorry," he whispered, reaching out to wipe a stray tear away, but I backed away from him.
"I cannot believe this. I cannot believe that I was this stupid". I whispered to myself, but I heard Lauren chuckling which meant that she had caught on to what I said.
I didn't understand. How could all of this have been a lie?
His emerald eyes were glistening with tears, but why did he care?
This all meant nothing to him, absolutely nothing. I can't believe that I was stupid enough to fall for it. I should have taken Lauren's word for the truth when she first confronted me in the bathroom.
Did they enjoy this? Was this a game for them?
I looked Gage in the eyes and told him, "I cannot believe that I trusted you. I guess you really are no different than the rest". He looked pained, and hurt when I said that, but oh well. Was he surprised that I thought so little of him after this? He really shouldn't be. He was the one in the wrong, not me.
After I said those words, I started walking away, but before I did I turned to Lauren and I mumbled, "You won".
I then hustled out of there, leaving my heart behind.
However, as I was leaving I heard Morgan yell at Gage, "You don't know what you just started. Watch your back, McKinley".
After she said those words, she speed walked up to me.
Placing her hand on my back, she guided me to her father's office where he told us to wait there so that he could sign us out for the day.
Once he came back, he gave me a fatherly hug, and told us to go get some ice cream.
Mr. Ross was always so good to me. He was almost like a second father.
Her family took care of me when I needed them. Morgan was like a sister to me, and I have always been grateful for their family.
However, these times are when I tend to be the most grateful.
He handed Morgan ten dollars, and we left shortly after.
Once we were out of the school and in the car, Morgan just pulled me in for a tight hug before we set out towards the supermarket, where hopefully we can find some sherbet ice cream.
