It was quiet, the moon shining its pale light down onto the weakened man, his hands clasped over the piece of folded paper in his hands

He knew what words lay penned onto the paper but wasn't ready, fearing that when he opened it and read aloud in his mind the contents he wouldn't be able to contain himself

He missed her, the woman who kept his heart warm in her embrace and happines locked into every breath she took. But her warmth faded to a bitter cold and her breath disappeared with the last of his heart

He gazed down at the note, scanning over the water stains and dirt marks that painted its white surface, he knew the sadness it would bring him, her words already imbedded in his head as the memory of them on that day played in his mind

He sighed and with trembling fingers slolwy opened the paper, gently pulling in fear he would damage the words if he wasn't careful

His eyes rested on the sloppy lettering that sprawled across its gentle surface, with a deep breath he started at the first words

Never in a million years would i have dreamed of this

His heart fluttered as her voice read out to him in his brain as he remembered the day so many years ago when her sweet tone graced him with the love she spoke

Her smile. The way she nervously stood in front of him, wisps of hair sticking up from the high pony tail that rested against her small head

"Never in a million years would i have dreamed of this" she started, glancing down at the blue lines that rested on the paper in her small hands before she looked back up at him, her brown eyes shining as the warm sun reflected in them

"But here i am, standing in front of the man i love with all of my heart, and happy at the fact he took a shower" she joked, our family chuckling around us as i smile warmly

"I never thought i could ever love someone as endlessly as i do you. I am in love with your soul not your body. Your temperament is what draws me into you. Your deep soothing voice is what I crave for and your warmth is what I covet. When you smile at me it seems as if the whole world is mine. When our eyes exchange looks it feels as if everything has paused and belongs right in its place. Your mesmerising oceanic eyes have locked themselves in my mind and only thoughts about you mingle in my head. These feeling I have for you are stronger than just admiration, everything about you made me fall hard, like the falling of star in night, but when i did your heart was there to embrace mine in its loving warmth and i was okay with that. Because your love is so whole, my missing pieces appear. Because your touch carries such passion, what was scarred becomes soft once more. Because you are steady and patient, my open wounds have time to seal and vanish. Maybe that is why they say love is such magic, this gift from the universe, this sweet addiction to the man I was born to find. My soul finding yours at its most damaged time,and you repairing it with youre love and now we are able to bathe one other in warmth, light, and our love as easily as we breathe, immune and oblivious to darkness that will never find its way back to us. I know for as long as i have you, as long as we have each other, the darkness that once haunted our hearts will never return, because we...I, finally have the strength to make it disappear" she finishes, her eyes locked to mine as small beads of tears rest in her loving gaze, he feel my heart swell as his hands reaches up to push away the liquid that fell to her cheek, ignoring the ones that seemed to have leaked down from his eyes

"Y/n i--" he start to say, looking down and grabbing her small hands in his "I love you...no amount of words can or will be able to express that, but my actions will. I promise to never allow myself or whatever out there to hurt you, i promise my heart to you" he says, placing the small silver ring onto her finger "No matter what happens, no matter what i say, know that i love you with all that i am and all that i will ever be." he finishes, watching as tears stream down her face as she slides a matching ring onto his large finger, the biggest smile lifting her cheeks

She closes the gap between them and places her soft lips against his as  the feeling of pure happiness flutters my heart as he wrap my arms around her waist an allow her to steal his breath away

"I love you" she whispers

Droplets crash onto the paper as whats left of his heart burns away, liquid pain streaming down the broke mans face as he looks up toward the moon, the breeze cooling the tears that stain his dirty face as pain filled whimpers fill the air around him

"Daddy?" a small voice from behinde him whispers, causing him to turn his sorrowful gaze to the little girl in purple pajamas

"What is it, sunshine?" he asks softly, making his way over to her small figure, long hair cascading around her as she looks up at him with her all to faniliar brown eyes

"I cant sleep" she replies softly as he lifts her body into his muscular arms, wiping the tears from his eyes as he gazes into her face with eyes filled with love

"Lets go" He says softly as he holds her body close to his, note clenched in his hand as he carries her into the room he once shared with his true love

He lays her down on the soft mattress and covers her up in the duvet, laying beside her as she cuddles up to his side

Looking over to the bedside table where a framed photo of him and his wife stood, her smile warming his body as his hand rests on his daughters shoulder, falling asleep to the picture of his loves face

"I love you"
