The air felt nice

The way it brushed across your face, the softness of the grass tickled your arm as the blades kissed your soft skin, their actions being motivated by thr spft breeze, the feeling serving a good distraction, but even then you could feel the emptiness, the uncomfortable wrongness of everything wrapping around your heart suffocating your everything thought, desperate for any other feeling or thought, you turned your head to look out to the trees

For a moment, you allowed yourself to get lost in the angelic glow that seemed to beam off of each tree, the sun awakening the shadows allowing the trees to multipy, but even your thoughts werent safe from the grim reality you were trying so desperately to escape

"You look so beautiful" he says, no evidence of mockery or joking but only pure admiration and love that shinned in his single blue eye, you roll your eyes and nudge him

"Youre so corny" you remark, trying to hide the small smile and feeling of butteflies that filled your stomach and warmth that spread throughout your body, moving from your spot resting against his shoulder to lay in the grass

"Im in love" he defended, laying on his side next to you, his hand gently brushing the dirt that had clung to your arm away

"Good for you" you reply nonchalantly, he shakes his head and leans down, waves of his brown hair cascading into his face as his lips hover above yours for a moment, your body freezes, eyelids dropping slightly in anticipation of his kiss

"You know you love me" he whispers, hand resting against your waist, you smile and tilt your head slightly to the right and scrunch your eyebrows together to mock a look of confusion

"Who are you again?" You ask

He gasps and rolls ontop of you, squeezing your sides causing you to laugh loudly as he attacks your neck with kisses

"Oh my god stop!" You manage to say through fits of laughter

"Say It! Say you love me!" He says agaisnt your neck, you squirm and place your hands on his chest, pushing him off and instantly jumping onto him, sending him falling into the soft grass behind him while you combined laughter mingled together to create a song of pure happiness

As your laughter died down, you smiled down at the boy, admiring every inch of his face, the feeling of his arm wrapped around you, the feeling of his hand brushing a strand of hair that fell from your ponytail behind your ear

You lean down and press your lips against his, he brings up his hand to rest on your cheek, deepening the kiss as much as he could before you break apart, panting softly but already craving more

"Say it" he whispered, his eye slowly opening, you could only smile and sigh dramatically

"Fiiiinnneeeee i-

"Love you" the broken words escape in a whisper, your heart aching for the love you lost

You lay back in the soft bed of grass, allowing its warmth to wrap around you and pretend, only for a moment, that he was coming back. That any second he would lay down next to you, hold you in his arms, and whispers sweet nothing into your hair, promising he would never leave you again

You smiled and looked toward the trees, waiting for your plaid Prince Charming to come save you from the dragons and dead things

Deep down you knew he wasn't coming back, but delusion was a sweet dream you never wanted to wake up from
