**Shane**

White hot searing pain flooded my veins. This pain was all I could feel listening, helplessly, on the other end of the phone.

" I can't fucking breathe," it was barely a whisper but I knew Ham had heard me, he hung his head wringing his hands in each other.

He had been an anxious wreck since she'd called. Myself, I'd just shut down. I couldn't bring myself to even say her name. It was all my fault and I had known better. She had been perfectly fine until I decided I couldn't take it any longer without her. Her tiny beautiful self storming into my office all fired up and mad, caught me off guard and I couldn't let her go after that. Even though I knew I should. So now here we were, Her gone, me ready to burn the world down to find her.

" we're pulling up" Finn announced from the driver seat, pulling my attention from the side window to the front.

I reached in my coat and pulled my gun out. People would tell me what they knew, and if they didn't they'd pay.

Ham looked over at me, his brow furrowed In worry. I knew he was concerned for my volatile state around god knew how many cops. But with her ripped from me, cops trying to stop me was the last thing I worried about. I saw nothing but red and felt nothing but that searing pain. I needed to find her alive or I'd wind up getting myself killed avenging her.

The SUV finally slowed to a stop and I hopped out before it was even in park. I strode to the shattered glass doors, my hand clenching and opening around the grip of my gun. The bank was swarming with a police presence, young Naïve rookie cops looking for anything to make their career. Bile rose in my throat as I glanced at the incompetence of everyone around me.

" Mr. Dillinger. I wasn't expecting to see your crew here let alone you."  surprise coated the words of
an older detective approaching me, his salt and pepper hair disheveled.

"Mm" was all I answered him with.

"Son, we've cleared the premises you can put that gun away now." He guided me

" Call me son again and I'll be using it. Has your incompetent rookie force found anything yet?" I responded without making eye contact, looking around to see what I could find and knew everyone had missed.

The detective cleared his throat and shifted nervously on his feet. " um, no, we haven't found anything yet, just miss Kline's belongings. no clues as to a motive to kidnap her and not rob the bank or who would have done it."

" motive I know so don't waste your time. I just need to know who." I said meeting his glare

"Mr. Dillenger, may I ask your involvement in this case? It seems a little odd that this bank has now been the target to two violent incidents. The only link I seem to have is miss Klein and yourself. However when I interviewed her after the robbery she said she didn't know you. Your ferocity leads me to believe miss. Klein was lying."

Rage flooded my vision. I quickly raised my gun to eye level of this prying cop. His force of stupidity neglected to even notice, however my crew did not. I heard them quietly drawing their guns behind me. Well trained. The detective was caught off guard and the look in his confirmed it.

" say her name again and I'll not hesitate to put a bullet through you. Have your men give my crew thirty minutes and then we'll be gone. We won't hinder your investigation but I will not leave finding her, solely up to you incompetent ass holes. Give me this and you won't have any problems from me, as long as you don't interfere with me finding her."

The blood had drained from the face of the detective. He raised his hands and took a step back, clearing his throat. He yelled for every officer to take their leave and wait outside.

We waited, guns drawn, as they exited before we started searching. Ham stayed close to me. I could tell he was waiting for me to explode, he knew me well, at times I felt more than Finn who I'd know my entire life. Ham was a great reader of people. He knew when someone was off or bothered, he knew I was teetering on the edge of releasing hell on earth to find the one person who made my pulse race.

As we searched the entire building, she was all I could think about. Every decision I'd made because of her, hell for her, went against my better judgment. I knew letting her in wouldn't end good. But it was impossible to look into her sage green eyes and not fall in love with her again and again. It would be a lie to say that I hadn't been in love with her since the day she transferred into our school. I tried to convince myself that it was a lie and that I still didn't feel the exact same way about her now.
But all of her spunk wound up in a tiny frame had made me weak. And I didn't mind being weak with her.

I tried to focus on the task at hand but every time I closed my eyes I saw her face framed by her long raven black hair, looking down on me with a smile, the city glistening behind her. I could still feel her hand on my chest as she bent down to kiss me. The feel of the soft skin of her back against my rough hands as I pulled her closer to me. The way her bare body vibrated against mine as she softly moaned into me as I deepened our kiss.

I shook the thoughts out of my head trying my hardest to think clearly. This was going to be the death of me.

" found something!" Finn yelled, finally pulling me out of my thoughts.

I walked over to where he was standing, directly in front of where she sat everyday. Ham handed me her phone. Sliding my thumb across the home button it lit up, illuminating a picture of her and I she'd taken a few weeks ago outside in the snow. She was smiling broadly looking at me, nothing but happiness on her face. My throat started to burn and my chest hurt.

" Shane look." Finn continued as I pulled my eyes to where he was looking " he wanted you to know it was him."

Sutherland. He's left his signature S engraved in the counter for me to see. The King of the East, controlled the east side of New York and its surrounding area. We constantly struggled against each other. Him wanting more territory and a larger body count and me wanting a larger empire with less of a 'bodybag' way of doing things. We constantly butt heads, but this, this was different. He was making a play for everything I had by taking the only thing I needed.

I shoved her phone into my pocket and headed for the door. My crew followed. I stepped on the broken glass in the entryway and popped out onto the sidewalk. I glanced at the detective once more and made my way to the SUV.

"What did you find?" The detective shouted as I climbed in. I slammed the door closed shutting him and the world out. Finn got in the driver seat and sped off as soon as the last door was shut.

I Buried my head in my hands, and everyone remained quiet. I hated the silence, my thoughts ran wild again. Thoughts of Thea.

He assumed she made me weak. That was his biggest mistake. He assumed I wouldn't burn the world in search for her.

Sutherland had assumed a lot of things.

He shouldn't have done that.
