Silver linings on a shelf, lined up in bright array
Like trophies of the highest order, proudly on display
They hide the brutal, painful worst, in hopes 'twill go away
Like depths of ocean, tugging deep, the heart can feel the drowning
I take a breath, both deep and long, in hopes to find the crowning
With all the hopes, and silver cords, I find myself still frowning
I wish that I had brought to depths a little more of sense
The will and heart and thought of care no longer recompense
As if the world and heart stood still, the breath will recommence
In deepest throes, the agony of life can all consume
The heart should never stand alone in solitary room
