[9] Shouya's Confession

3rd Person: POV

It's been a few weeks since Kazuki had been coming in to visit Asami. It was the only time that
Y/N and Kazuki could spend time together. If only he didn't talk about Asami so much. Whenever he does talk about it, Y/N's chest aches; but to keep him from not worrying, she just laughs it off like nothing was wrong. Ever since the past few days, Y/N had visited the Hospital less which as for Kazuki did the opposite. Just right after the bell had rung, he would rush out of the school and head straight towards the Hospital.
Why might Y/N done that, you ask.  It's a simple question that can be answered, that is...

Y/N: POV

'...It's almost Kazuki's birthday!!?  There would've been a time that I could have remembered it earlier, and it had to be NOW?! I have 3 WEEKS to plan it out.  There is little time for me to get him a present and I have no idea what to get for him!'

Just as I was hurrying up to school, I noticed two Kazuki and a girl next to him having a nice chat with each other. Moving closer to them, Is as that it was...
...Asami.

Trying not to get my hopes down, I crawled up behind them and made an entrance. They were surprised, especially Kazuki. Even though his eyes were twitching from me doing that, it was nice to know that he still treats me like a friend. Kazuki is in a really good mood today, obviously because of Asami finally being able to be released from the hospital and go to school now. I smiled brightly at Asami, giving her a friendly greeting.

"Hey Asami, how have you been?"

I gave a quick wave to her as she got startled and hid behind Kazuki.

'Does she not remember me?'

"Sorry for that, Y/N. Asami's memories had been wiped, so she doesn't remember anything about you"

I looked at him concerned, then down to the ground.

"Then why does she remember you?"

I uttered in a deep-sorrowed voice.  Although I already knew the answer, I had to hear it from him directly.

"I don't remember specifically but the Doctor said something about how the people who she cared for are the only ones she remembered."

'Why doesn't he give me the attention that he gives her? Have I been nothing to him?'

He smiled lovingly as he patted her head. I slumped my shoulders down and curled my hand to a ball, as hard as I could.

'Of course she remembers you, she had always been looking at you'

"Asami, don't worry. This girl is nice! Her name is Y/N Mashibasa, she used to be your friend!"

Hearing me talk like that might have made him feel guilty for her not remembering me. I had two choices in my mind that I had to pick one off from.

A - Let him introduce him to me and for her to realize that I was the one responsible for her to be like this
Or
B - Interrupt Kazuki's introduction and don't let her  remember me at all.

From there, I knew what the best thing to to do,  not just for myself, but for Kazukis and Asami's sake.  He introduced me to her.

'I know this doesn't compare to the price she had to pay for me but somehow, maybe helping her regaining her memories would be a way of paying her back.'

Once he had finished, Asami gave me an ominous vibe, but that didn't bother me, she was probably still thinking of me as a stranger.
We all walked to the school building while talking along the way. Everyone was staring at us, especially Asami. Even before she went to our school, she had the looks that any boy would fall for. It made me really jealous that she had also stolen the boy I fell for.

After that day, Kazuki and Asami started to hangout more. I also started to hang out with Shouya more too. We then started to separate, we only had small talks, but that's the only time we ever look each other in the eye.

'Maybe spending time with Asami would be the best present he would want'

3rd Person: POV

Shouya had been frequently looking at Y/N. From the point when she hung out with him more, all he could think about was her. Although every time she unconsciously talk about Kazuki, he had been quite irritated.

The day at lunch time, they were alone together in the classroom and Y/N was talking about Kazuki again.

"There was this one time where Kazuki fell asleep an—"

"Why can't you forget about him?"

Y/N turned to him, surprised of what he had said. Shouya stared at her with a hint of sadness and jealousy. He pinned her to the wall as the curtains blew behind them.

"Can't you give up on him and be with me instead?"
