One hot evening, after the sun already disappeared behind the horizon hours ago everyone was in the kitchen. Melody liked this room. It was big enough for everyone to fit and to not feel claustrophobic. A few lamps lit up the room. The young woman sat between Jamie and Ruth. The young boy talking to her excitedly.

Sharon and Maggy stood behind the counter talking to Doc, who sat in front of it. The mood was good, everyone had worked for hours under the heat of the sun.

Melody had taken a long bath in the dark bathroom with Ruth and Trudy. Their hair was still wet, making it look darker and Melody put her hair in a messy bun.

Nobody was prepared for the loud noise and rustling coming in from the door. The talking stopped and everyone looked alarmed.

"JARED!"

Jamie didn't hesitate to get up and look for the older man. Melody as well as most of the others followed him. Jeb walked in the back.

They turned the corner and saw the five tall, and dirty man standing there. Jamie was hugging Jared tightly around the waist. The O'Shea brothers stood next to each other and were quickly pulled into a hug by Melody.

"Since everybody seems to be here and everyone is strong we can all help unload the supplies!" Jeb said in a loud voice full of authority.

Everyone stated to greet the men before everyone started to help bring the supplies in. Melody took a carton full with food with her as Ian grabbed a large piece of metal.

"What are you gonna do with that?" Heath questioned.

"We thought it's better for our room than a quill. No offence, Rachel." He said as the auburn-haired woman passed him.

"None taken!" She said without looking back.

Once everything was unloaded and stored the moon stood high in the sky and everyone was tired. Some went to sleep while others went back into the kitchen.

Before Melody could enter it she was stopped. She looked up to see Kyle holding her right arm in one hand and a lamp in the other hand. She looked at him expecting.

"Can we talk?"

Of course she nodded and followed him as he led them to a quiet room. It was just an empty room in the cave nothing special. A lot of red dirt was on the ground as the two sat down. It was quiet for a while so Melody started drawing in the red sand.

"Melody, I care for you a lot." He said looking at the lamp as her hand stopped playing with the dirt. Her eyes snapped at him. "But every time I want to get close to you I see Jodie. I see her exiting the cars of the seeker with those disgusting reflective eyes. Anytime I'm with you I'm scared you'll be snatched away from me and I won't be able to get you back. I'm not hung up on Jodie because of her but because of what happened to her. I don't want this to happen to you"

Melody looked at him and nodded. "So what now?"

Kyle looked at her and stood up. He held his hands towards her and she took it. After he pulled her up he put his hands on her cheeks.

"I let those body-snatchers control my life for the past years. Always on the run, never able to settle down, be safe, or happy."

He looked into Melody's brown eyes. His heart beat so loud against his chest he thought Melody could hear it, if not feel it.

"I'm done letting them control me!"

With that he closed the distance between each other and pressed his lips on hers. Her lips were soft, warm, and immediately returned the kiss. Her arms closed around Kyle's waist as she stepped closer.
