Melody went into their room. Kyle knew to stay away from her. At least that's what he thought was the right thing to do. He didn't know what to do! He regretted ever leaving to find Jodie. But it was too late now. So he went back to the infirmary and pulled a bed next to Jodie, Sunny's tank rested in his arm as he laid down to sleep.
The next time he woke up there was a loud ruckus going on in the infirmary. Wanda came to Doc and let Melanie have her body back. But the latter was worried about where the soul was. Kyle was just annoyed.
"Melanie, calm down! Wanda is fine, she's there." He pointed to the cryo-tank the soul, who saved his life, was in.
He tried to wake Jodie up but after days of trying they couldn't get her back. Kyle was sad about it but asked Doc to put Sunny back.
The soul was so happy to be able to stay but she got scared as Kyle left her. Melanie, the host of Wanda as she learned, spoke to her softly and calmed her down.
Melanie had to leave to find Ian and tell him what happened to Wanda. She told him they'd find her a new body as soon as possible but that they needed help with Sunny. Kyle was gone in the caves and the soul needed someone she, or rather Jodie, knew.
Ian walked her to the kitchen where she was greeted by Brandt and other humans friendly. Sunny was a very shy person, other than Jodie, and felt unsure around the new faces. But surprisingly almost everyone welcomed her and treated her like a normal person. She would feel more at ease if Kyle was there.
Melody knew Sunny was back, but she didn't know wether to be relieved or sad. Kyle left her after all but this time she didn't have her mother by her side to help her through this. So she just tried to suck it up and go back to her routine. Yet she found it very difficult to do so.
Neither Sunny nor Melody had seen Kyle in a while. He kept to himself, even moved his stuff out of the room. At first Melody was scared he left for good but Aaron had reassured her that he didn't.
Sunny needed a place to stay and reluctantly Melody offered her to share a room with her. She had taken the necklace Kyle gave her off but placed it somewhere safe, where she could always get it to remember the time they had spent together.
The soul was surprised at how friendly Melody was towards her even through everything that was going on. She even showed her the way around in the cave and helped her to start working. It took Sunny a while until she knew what chores she could do or when to bath or eat.
One day she was working with Melody in the dark room, cleaning dishes when the Australian woman broke the silence.
"So Sunny, what was your job back in the normal world?", Melody wanted to get rid of the suffocating silence.
"I was the assistant to a comforter."
"A comforter?" Melody asked confused.
"Um, I think you called them therapists or psychologist."
"Oh, yeah. Did you like it there?" , Melody questioned.
"Yes. I absolutely enjoyed it. I love earth in general! It's so amazing and beautiful here but at the same time it's so hard." She felt her aching heart. She longed to see Kyle and was hurt that he was with Melody. Yet she didn't feel contempt or anything negative towards the human.
"On which planets did you live so far?"
"I only lived with the bears but for three live times. I just wanted to see something new and earth seemed to be calling to me."
The two continued to talk and by the end of the day they became friends. Everyday they would sit next to each other during any meal and work together afterwards. Kyle saw this but was unsure if he should get close to them.
