Melody woke up to Kyle shaking her awake.

"Wakey Wakey", he said. She didn't budge. "Get up, you lazy Koala."

"Go away! I wanna sleep more."

"No time for sleep, time for breakfast!"

He picked her up bridal style and carried her towards the kitchen. Melody only snuggled deeper into him, feeling completely at ease. Until they left the tunnel and the sun shone with all her power onto the young woman.

"Why?" Melody complained dramatically.

"Come on, Mel", Kyle said and sat her down.

They walked towards the kitchen. Melody walked faster immediately once she smelled the food and started pulling Kyle with her.

"Who just wanted to sleep?" He teased her.

"Shut up, Joel."

"Joel? We're in an alien invasion not a zombie apocolypse, Ellie."

"Okay, Ripley, but let me get my food!"

Melody munched on the eggs happily. She absolutely loved the first days after they came back from a raid. There was always fresh food.

Today would be a slow day. Not many people would work and nobody would work more than necessary. The couple strolled through the caves and different tunnels, just glad to be with each other when Ian interrupted them.

"Melody, can we talk?"

No, non, nope. She didn't want to. However, it was the mature thing to do, although she just wanted to tell him to piss off. Melody nodded reluctant and followed him after she kissed Kyle.

"I'm sorry." Ian said.

"You should be!"

"I am. I shouldn't have brought up Matthew. Especially when talking about Wanda. I am sincerely sorry, Melody."

Melody sighed. She wanted nothing more than to cuss him out but she had to let go of the anger towards him.

"I accept your apology, Ian" she sighed.

Her mother would be proud of her. She always talked about forgiving people and making up.

The two stood together in silence before Ian moved to hug her. They wrapped their arms around each other in a friendly embrace. Now things could go back to normal.

"Are you sure you want me to do that?" Melody asked Kyle sceptical.

"Yes, it will be a while before we'll go on another raid, so it's going to be long when the time comes."

The woman looked back and fourth from the scissors in her hand to Kyle. She had never cut anyone's hair, not even her own, which showed. Her hair was broken in the tips, she needed a haircut as well.

"I have trust in you, love."

"Then be prepared for a betrayal."

Kyle chuckled and Melody finally moved behind him taking his hair in her hand. She was unsure what to do but she slowly started to get the hang of it. In the end it didn't turn out so bad, which she was glad about.

"Thank you." Kyle said.

His hair was still wild but didn't reach his shoulders anymore. He liked it a lot better. Kyle pulled Melody into his lap and kissed her, the mirror standing in front of them. Melody looked at him through the mirror.

"I love your long hair, I couldn't go shorter."

"It's good, I like it."

He kissed her before she took the scissors once more and cut her own hair. Her hair, that used to go her elbows was now a few inches shorter. Kyle hummed approving as she smiled and asked if he liked it.
