Chapter 18

Melody went to the kitchen. She fixed Ian and Wanda something to eat and brought it to the room she hid in. Wanda sat in one corner, Ian was a few meters away as to not to scare her.

Melody sat down next to the younger O'Shea brother and placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. The man looked up to her and sent her a weak smile.

"Thank you."

"If you need anything just tell me, alright?" Melody told him and left the two alone.

Kyle sat in his room contemplating. The incident with Wanda was still on his mind and he found hard to believe what happened. Why would the soul safe him? And why would she lie to everyone about what happened?

He really thought he could kill her without any problem but her will to survive and strength surprised him. Everyone knew she was lying, even Maggy and Sharon, even if they denied it.

The man told her he would leave her alone from now on to make it up to her. Although, he said it and he meant it, he was a man of his word after all, he was worried about his little brother, who was in love with the worm in the back of Melanie's head.

Even though, Ian was ready to turn his back on his blood family Kyle would never do that. Hell, he would have turned down Melody if his Ian would've given him a good reason! He sighed, running a hand down his face, it was useless to think about it. Kyle got up to see if lunch was ready.

After Melody left the suffering people of two different species alone. She wanted to find Jamie and see how he was doing. Usually he would jump around somewhere close to the kitchen so he could come and eat as soon as possible, yet today he wasn't. Maybe he was still in class with Sharon? That question was answered by Sharon walking out of the tunnel to the rooms with her mother by her side.

"Was Jamie in class this morning, Sharon?", she asked the woman.

Sharon looked at her surprised. "No, I thought he was somewhere around, just skipping class. Is everything alright?"

"Yeah, he just cut himself last night. I wanted to see how he's doing but I can't seem to find him."

"Did you look in his room?" Maggy asked.

"No, that's where I was going. I just hoped someone had seen him already."

She quickly walked through the tunnel, hurrying to Jamie's room. She quickly called out his name through the curtain and waited until she heard a response. Melody heard Jamie inviting her in and she entered the room. He laid on his bed his face was slightly red and he looked exhausted.

"How are you doing, Jamie?" She questioned as she knelt down next to the bed.

Jamie had kicked his blanket away, he felt too hot with it. He wore a red shirt with some beige shorts, his cut was visible and seemed to have a red rim around the wound.

"I'm good, the cut is nothing really."

Melody hummed but didn't agree with him as she put her hand on his forehead and then his cheek. He was hot, his temperature was too high.

"Do you feel hot? Do you have a headache?", she asked him and he nodded.

"I'm going to get Doc and some food for you, ok? I don't want you to move too much, alright? Does your leg hurt more than it did yesterday?"

"Yeah, it feels like it burns. But I'm strong I'll get through that."

"Oh, I know, young man, but that doesn't mean that we won't help you to get better."

Melody left and went to the kitchen, hoping to see Doc there. He sat at a table with Jeb and a few others when she walked inside. Doc looked to her as she leant closer to him.

"Hey Doc, could you maybe check up on Jamie? He is very hot, I think he has fever and his leg hurt too." She said to the older man quietly.

"Yes, of course. I can get a few things right away."

"Good. I'll bring him some food."

Doc left as Melody fixed a plate. Her stomach grumbled but she was too focused on Jamie to notice. Doc arrived after her in Jamie's room.

"That's so cool, food in bed! I didnt have that in so long!" The young boy exclaimed excitedly.

Doc examined Jamie, who munched happily until the doctor touched his leg to close to the wound. He hissed.
