Kyle was bored. The raids weren't what they used to be, just like Brandt said.
"Now its just too easy! You can just go in there and nobody suspects anything. We don't have to hide anymore."
"We still have to hide don't feel too safe, Brandt." Jared scolded the younger man, who rolled his eyes.
"Oh come on, Jared. You know what I mean. Did you ever believe we would spend a night in a motel during a raid without being worried to be snatched in the night?"
The humans relaxed in their room as Wanda stood at the window talking about the future of souls and humanity.
"Just look at it. The human boy playing with his parents, who are souls. Humanity could survive and live with us. I have never seen anything like that."
"The boy is human?" Aaron asked shocked. "How long? Will they give him up?"
"Well, they could but no one would force them to do so. If there are more families like this, your kind will stand a chance."
The raiders were ready to go home. They had enough supplies for a while and were happy and light-headed as they drove back home. Ian and Kyle sat in one of the trucks. Aaron and Brandt sat behind them with the storaged goods. Jared drove with Wanda in the other van.
"Why are they going so fast?" Ian asked, as the truck in front of them sped up.
"Maybe he wants a race." Kyle said, smiling at the thought of a challenge, until he looked into the mirror.
"Fuck, seekers. Get your glasses on."
The seek car drove past them. Kyle was still driving within the speed limit but the others weren't.
It took a while until they saw them again. The car of the seekers parked in front of the truck and one of them stood at the driver's door talking to whoever sat inside.
"Just drive by, don't stop." Aaron advised.
"I didn't plan to." Kyle responded.
"But what about Wanda and Jared?" Ian demanded.
"Quiet!" Kyle hissed as he drove past them not looking at the people on the road.
They drove another five minutes until Kyle stopped and waited for the others. It took a short time but then the truck appeared, driving at a normal speed. Jared shone a flashlight into his eyes, showing he was still human.
"Ok, let's get back home."
Melody held a crying Lily in her arms. The little seeker, dressed in black, killed Wes and they had buried his body next to Walters. The woman with the caramel skin was heart broken. The death of her boyfriend hurt her deeply.
Jeb unarmed the seeker and held her captive, maybe Wanda could get something out of her. Heath, Trudy, Jeb and Melody usually took turns watching the hostile soul. Now it was Heath's turn and he was just upset to see the seeker again. Why couldn't they just kill her?
Trudy walked into Wes' old room he started to share with Lily and sat down next to the two women.
"They are back." She said and slowly switched positions with Melody.
Trudy rocked the crying woman back and fourth as Melody left. She didn't wipe the tears away, it was no use, there were always new ones coming.
The raiders stood at the entrance as Jeb talked to them. Shock, horror, and sadness were clear on their faces as Melody stepped closer.
Her boyfriend noticed her and took her appearance in. Her eyes were red and puffy, she had been crying for a while. She was wrapped up into a jacket, although it wasn't cold. Kyle walked to her immediately and pulled her into a hug as she sobbed against him.
