OCTOBER

narrator's pov:

the students of riverview high school flooded the cafeteria, sitting at certain lunch tables based on friend groups and cliques.

corbyn matthew besson, daniel james seavey, jack robert avery, jonah marais roth frantzich, zachary dean herron, and chloe jane habrock claimed their table which is right next to the lunch line.

chloe, zach, and daniel, put their books down, and raced to the front of the lunch line.

"i won!" chloe remarked.

"we let you win," zach scoffed.

"that's what you always say," chloe laughed.

as those three continued their conversation, four girls claimed their spot about three lunch tables behind them.

"what's for lunch today?" waverly anne matts inquired, placing down her textbooks.

"it's taco tuesday!" charlotte lynn lyons squealed, running to the lunch line.

lillian reed turner and mackenzie joy simmons followed waverly and charlotte to the line. mackenzie opened the refrigerated beverage section, but was not able to spot her favorite drink.

"there's no apple juice," kenzie whined.

"go ask that guy in line," waverly suggested, pointing at a blonde boy who was holding a bottle of apple juice.

"daniel? as in daniel seavey? as in the cutest boy in our grade?" kenzie squealed, jumping up and down.

"someone has a crush on mr. he doesn't know you exist," charlotte teased.

"a girl can dream, char," kenzie scoffed, walking up to daniel.

daniel and his friends were laughing at a joke that zach remarked, until a blonde girl interrupted them.

"hey, you know where the last apple juice went?" kenzie asked.

"um, i'm not sure..." daniel mumbled, hiding his apple juice behind his back.

"he's messing with you," chloe laughed, taking the bottle from daniel and handing it to kenzie.

"thanks!" mackenzie remarked, heading back to her friends.

when mackenzie left, daniel complained, "hey! that was my apple juice."

"it's just a drink, daniel, not your entire life," chloe scoffed, rolling her eyes.

-

"so, what happened?" lillian asked mackenzie.

"the girl that was with him took the apple juice from his hands and handed it to me!" mackenzie cheered.

"calm down, mack, you act as if he's from a popular boyband," waverly declared.

"daniel is just so cute. did you all know that he's in our physics class, and i also have almost every class with him?" mackenzie added.

"and do you sit near him in any of those classes?" charlotte questioned.

"well, no. he's always sitting with his friends. i think their names are zach, corbyn, chloe, jack, and jimmy?" mackenzie continued, not confident with her name identifications.

"you mean jonah?" waverly laughed.

"yes! that's his name," mackenzie agreed.

"jonah is captain of the basketball team, he's really good on the court," lillian mentioned.

"ooh, is someone head over heels for jonah?" charlotte teased.

"not really, i don't like any of them that way," lillian disagreed, "i don't know them that well."
