lillian grabbed her purse, and made her way to the front door. unexpectedly, her mom blurted out, "where do you think you're going?"

the brunette jumped. she thought her mom had already gone to work, but it turns out she hadn't.

"i was, um, heading to corbyn's," lillian mumbled, playing with her fingers.

"who is corbyn?" her mom asked.

"my boyfriend, mom, i already told you this," lillian replied.

"what are all of your plans for this week?" lillian's mom inquired.

"tomorrow i'm going shopping and having a picnic with corbyn, the day after we're hanging out with everyone else, and then corbyn and i are going thrifting," lillian explained.

"you're going out too much," lillian's mom declared, "you're grounded, lillian."

"wh-what?" lillian scoffed.

"you're not allowed to see your boyfriend until christmas," her mom stated.

"that's not fair, mom," lillian disagreed, "why do you want me home when i'm always just in my room? what's the difference if i'm out?"

"i said no, lillian reed!" her mom yelled.

"mom, you don't understand. you have to let me see him," lillian sighed, "corbyn matthew besson is one of the only people in this world who actually makes me feel like i'm worth something."

lillian felt like breaking down, but she didn't want to, "are you really not going to let me see someone who makes me so happy?"

her mom let out a deep breath, "alright, fine, you can go see your boyfriend."

-

"wait, your mom said that?" corbyn asked.

their legs were tangled together on corbyn's couch, and lillian reached for her hot chocolate, "yeah, she did. i kind of cried while i walked here, but that was a whole two hours ago."

"aw, lily pad," corbyn sighed, holding her tighter, "i love you."

lillian smiled, "i don't know what i did to deserve you, corbyn. you treat me better than ethan ever did, and i love you so much."

corbyn beamed, but felt off. lillian kept talking about how corbyn makes her feel so happy, but all he could think about was how much it's going to break her heart when she finds out.

and he only has a little over a week to tell her the truth.
