NOVEMBER

narrator's pov:

the final bell of the day rang, and the students of riverview high school dashed right out of the front doors. it was the beginning of the annual fall break — combined with thanksgiving break — and the students were more than glad to have a week and a half off from school.

"see you at corbyn's tomorrow!" chloe called out to the girls, walking home with zach, jack, and daniel.

the girls waved goodbye to them, and walked home as well.

"alright, jack, so do you like waverly, or chloe?" daniel asked, walking into corbyn's house with him.

"um, i don't know," jack replied.

"wait, you like waverly?" jonah inquired.

"what are we talking about?" corbyn joined in, walking to the living room from the kitchen.

"jack likes chloe and waverly," daniel stated.

"hey! i never said that," jack groaned.

"wait, you actually like chloe? like, for real?" zach questioned.

"i don't know, what's with all of the questions?" jack screeched.

"dude, you always like a girl when you find out someone else likes them. first, with chloe, now with waverly," corbyn mentioned.

"i don't like either of them, okay?" jack scoffed, "chloe's our best friend and waverly is going to the dance with jonah."

the girls came by corbyn's house about an hour after the guys arrived, and they all started to make the thanksgiving feast.

"daniel, that's not how you make mashed potatoes!" mackenzie laughed, watching daniel stab the potatoes with a knife.

"hey, it's going to come out good no matter what," daniel refused, "i'm a chef."

"actually, quite the opposite," jonah joined in, "if anything, i'm the chef."

"oh, really? which one of us seasoned the turkey?" waverly teased, "oh, right, it was me."

"okay, stop talking, wave," jonah chuckled, putting his hand in the flour bag and flicking powder on waverly.

waverly gasped, now covered in flour, "you're so dead, jonah!"

the brunette and redhead laughed so hard that they couldn't breathe as they ran around corbyn's kitchen.

"hey! we're trying to make the dessert!" corbyn shouted, gesturing at the marshmallows and chocolate that him and lillian were assembling on a baking tray.

"yeah, don't disturb them, i look forward to the s'mores dip every year," jack added, pointing at jonah.

"hey, lily pad, want to see how many marshmallows i can stuff in my mouth?" corbyn asked lillian, holding the bag of large marshmallows.

"no thanks, i don't want to lose my appetite," lillian laughed.

"well, sucks for you, i'm going to do it anyway," corbyn remarked, shoving six marshmallows in his mouth.

"oh my— CORBYN!" lillian shrieked, "you're such a goofball."

"and you're so adorable," corbyn replied, dotting melted chocolate on lillian's nose.

"hey!" lillian whined, wiping the chocolate off her nose.

"ew, chocolate," daniel groaned, watching lillian and corbyn.

"disgusting," mackenzie added.

daniel and mackenzie looked at each other, and immediately started laughing.

"how can you guys not like chocolate?" charlotte asked, taking a chocolate chip and putting it in her mouth.

"yuck, i don't even want to think about it," mackenzie gagged.

as much as mackenzie respected daniel and charlotte, sometimes she can't help herself when she's with daniel. and as much as mackenzie is charlotte's best friend, she can't help the uneasy feelings she gets whenever she sees kenzie and daniel together.

but, neither of them know that.
