ZARA'S POV
After we ate, we went back to my granddads house. Rotimi has to leave because he has a few interviews and shows to do in the states in a few days. Gavin is saying his goodbyes to Rosa.
"Are you sure you want me to leave? I can't push back the shows but I can push back the first couple of interviews." Rotimi says.
"Of course I don't want you to go but you need to go. I'm not going to come between you and your career."
Rotimi kisses me.
"I love you." He says.
"I love you too, Ro." I smile.
I kiss him one more time and hug him before he leaves out with Gavin.
"You really like Gavin, huh." I ask Rosa as we walk into the kitchen.
"I guessss...." she smiles.
"Yeah whatever."
We both laugh. We sit down at the kitchen table. The rest of our family are outside on the patio.
"So how do you feel about all of this?" Rosa asks.
"What do you mean?" I say.
"I mean.... we were so mad with dad about all of this and now we're literally helping him, Granddad and uncle Marcelle."
"Dad says after we find Mac then he's done with it. That's why I'm doing it. For Mac. He's uncle Marcelle's son. OUR cousin. Which means he's family. If it were you... I would do anything to get you back."
I kiss her forehead.
"Plus... as much as me and Ariel aren't the best of friends, she's carrying Mac's child. And that baby didn't do anything to not deserve a chance to know Mac." I continue.
"You're right. What about Jackson? Does he know that you know about him being Harrison's nephew and that he was basically playing you to get to dad..."
I can see Rosa getting upset all over again.
"I'm not sure but I haven't been returning his calls or texts. And like you said, he's Harrison's nephew. Rotimi used to work for dad and they both know I'm
dating Rotimi... so between all of that, I'm sure Jackson knows something. He's an asshole but he's not stupid... I'm just dreading seeing him again. Whenever it happens, I know it's not going to be good."* * *
I wake up to see that it's 11:00 at night.
"Wow. Didn't even realize I fell asleep..." I say to myself.
I sit up in bed and I don't feel like I can go back to sleep right now so I head downstairs to get something to drink. I see my granddad still sitting outside so after I grab a drink, I go out there with him.
"Grandpa Gio, what are you still doing out here? You're not tired?" I ask.
"Nah, sweetpea. I'm just out here thinking."
"Thinking about what?" I sit down in a chair next to him.
"Just everything that's been going on." He says.
I pause for a moment.
"Do you think we're going to find Mac?" I ask.
"Of course. And that little fuck Nathan is going to get what's coming to him. I can't believe he's my grandson."
"Yeah. To kidnap Mac over something that was never in his control is stupid. And selfish." I say.
He nods his head in agreement.
"And on top of all that your father wants to leave the game after we find Mac, which is fine. I understand. But before he can do that, he needs to leave his business in the hands of someone he trusts.. and right now, that list is short."
"Who do you think he should give it to? You've been doing this since forever. I'm sure there's someone out there that you can recommend." I say.
"Actually... I think he should leave it in the hands of you and your sister."
I almost choke on my drink.
"Wait. What??" I say.
"If he hands it to you, you can run the business and even though he'll be out, he can still oversee things."
"Granddad you and I both know he's not going to allow that to happen. Plus I don't know shi... anything about this stuff." I laugh.
"True. But you can learn... just like your mom did."
"What?? My mom was in this? I mean I know that she knew my dad did it but I didn't know she was actually participating in the festivities."
My granddad laughs at me.
"She wasn't in it the way your father and uncle and I are but she helped out from time to time. She honestly could've made a name for herself in the game but then she got pregnant with you...."
"Well that explains why she was never really too shocked whenever she would hear about the things dad was doing."
"Yeah... I thought your mom and dad would've told you considering everything that's been going on."
"It's cool. I guess part of me always knew but didn't want to admit it...." I begin.
I take another sip of my drink then stand up.
"...well I'm going to go try to go back to sleep. You should be doing the same sir." I smile.
"I will. I promise."
"Ok... love you granddad." I kiss his cheek.
"Love you too.... and don't forget to think about what I said about you taking over the business when your dad leaves." He quickly adds.
I nod my head and smile as I walk back into the house.
