ROTIMI'S POV

Half an hour has gone by... the doorbell rings soon after.

"I'll get the door." Zara says.

When she opens it, we all see:

"Granddad! Uncle Marcelle!" Zara says, hugging them.

"Hey, sweet pea." Giovanni kisses her cheek.

Marcelle and Giovanni go around hugging everyone.

"Dad..." Alonso smiles and hugs him.

They hug each other. I know that Alonso and Giovanni have made up but it's still weird to see them actually getting along.

"Maybe we should all go sit in the living room." Ella says.

We all follow her into the living room and sit down.

"Where's Rosa?" Giovanni asks.

"She's out with.... a friend. I'll tell her about everything when I get home." Zara says.

Giovanni nods his head.

"So, I guess we should just get right to it... Giovanni, do you know what it is that Harrison and his dad Karl may want from you?" Ella asks.

"And what about it makes Harrison think that kidnapping Mac would help him get to whatever it is he thinks you have?" Alonso adds.

Giovanni takes a deep breath as if he's trying to think of how to say whatever he's planning to say next.

"Before this whole rivalry thing... Karl and I were actually good friends... well, as friendly as two drug dealers can be. We respected each other even though we were working in the same area..."

Giovanni looks at all of us.

"There was this supplier in the Dominican Republic that was looking for someone in our area to sell his product. I could have taken the job on my own and so could have Karl but we decided that we both would sell it and whoever made the most money from it by the end of the month would be the main distributor...." Giovanni continues.

"Sounds like a fair deal." I say.

"Yeah, it was but something went wrong. Some of Karl's people didn't trust I would go through with the deal and vice versa.. so some of his people and some of mine went rouge and took matters in their own hands and Karl's son, Henry—Harrison's brother—was caught in the crossfire... and he died. So, I'm assuming both Karl and Harrison both believed i was the cause of Henry's death but I wasn't. And because Harrison couldn't get to Alonso or Marcelle... he took the next best thing... one of my grandkids." Giovanni explains.

"Well, that explains why he took Mac but what does he think you have?" Alonso asks.

"Does it have anything to do with the numbers you told me to memorize when I was a teenager?" Ella asks.

Giovanni nods reluctantly.

"The supplier from the Dominican Republic... his name is Santiago. He was really big on riddles. One thing he likes to do is give riddles to his potential dealers.. i guess he wanted to test his dealers intelligence... he gave one riddle to me and Karl sometime before Henry died. The only clue that he gave us was that the answer would be numbers. I figured it out. Karl didn't."

"But what's the numbers for?" Zara asks.

"Santiago said that the numbers would lead us to the purest form of cocaine. Pure cocaine means a hell of a lot of money to be made. I only told Ella the numbers because I didn't trust anyone else. Plus I knew she would be the last person someone would go to for the numbers. Harrison probably wants the numbers so that he can find the cocaine and be one of the richest dealers in the country. He probably thinks that taking the numbers from me would be payback for his brother's death." Giovanni says.

"But even if he gets the numbers, he wouldn't know where to go to use them." I say.

"Exactly. The numbers could be anything... a combination... a security code..  literally anything." Giovanni says.

"What exactly are the numbers?" Marcelle asks.

I'm surprised no one asked what the numbers were before now. Ella looks at Giovanni as if she's asking him with her eyes if it's okay if she says the numbers. He nods his head.

"The numbers are one, two, two, five, nine, one." Ella says.

We're all sitting around thinking about what the numbers could mean.

"I'm honestly surprised you kept the numbers a secret all these years. If you and my mom were the only ones who knew then why didn't you try to find the cocaine on your own?" Zara asks.

"Part of me didn't want to be greedy and another part of me just felt like it was a security blanket for me. As long as I had the numbers that no one else knew about... the least likely someone would try to kill me. They can't get the numbers from me if I'm dead." He shrugs.

Zara nods her head in agreement.

"If this Santiago guy gave you a riddle to figure out the numbers then there must be a riddle to figure out where to use the numbers." Marcelle says.

"Yeah but Santiago is hard to get in touch with. He rarely does phone calls. He's sort of old school." Giovanni says.

"Well, I guess we all know what that means..." Alonso says.

"What?" We all say at the same time.

"It means we all should start packing asap... because ladies and gentlemen, we're going to the Dominican Republic." Alonso smirks.
