I wake up to the sunlight beaming down into my eyes. My window is open so I can hear the birds chirping. I don't feel as bad as I thought I was going to feel. Rosa and I went out for drinks last night... and let's just say that I had a few too many.
Rosa is my sister... my half sister to be exact. We have the same father but different mothers. I don't like to call her my half sister but I have to whenever I introduce her to others because she looks more white than black. I sit up in bed and wipe my eyes. As soon as I jump out of bed, Rosa barges into my room jumping up and down, screaming at the top of her lungs.
"What is wrong with you?" I ask.
"I won! I won!"
I try to wrap my head around what she's saying and the fact that's it's early in the morning isn't helping.
"Rosa, calm down. What happened?"
Rosa takes a deep breath while she continues to hop around my room.
"The radio station. I just won two tickets to see Rotimi in concert! Front. Row. Tickets!" Rosa screams.
"No! You're lying! How?" My eyes widen.
"All I had to do was be the 10th caller and name 5 of Rotimi's songs from his Jeep Music Vol.1 EP and I did it! I did it! I mean I knew all the songs but I didn't think I would be the 10th caller. Oh my god, what am I going to wear? Do I have shoes? I need..."
"Rosa! When is the concert?" I laugh at her.
"Tomorrow night! We need to go pick up the tickets today before 7pm."
I nod my head to let her know that I hear what she's saying. I have to go to work today but I get off at 3:00 so we can pick the tickets up after. Rosa doesn't have to work today so after she runs out of my room, still screaming with excitement, I rush in the bathroom to shower.
