Chapter Thirty-Five.

ZARA'S POV

"Wait a minute... if that's Mac's father then that must mean that Mac is..."

"Your cousin." Giovani finishes my sentence.

Rotimi and I look at each other in complete shock.

"I guess that also means that crazy lunatic Nathan is your cousin too..."

"Speaking of... did you know that Marcelle had put Mac and Nathan up for adoption?" I asked.

"Yes. But I wasn't aware that they were adopted by two different families until a couple of years ago when Marcelle and I tried to find them."

"Wait. Marcelle is here? In Italy?" I asked.

Giovanni smiles at me and nods his head.

"Yes, he's actually here in the building. Would you like to meet him?"

I instantly begin to feel even more nervous than I was before. Meeting family I never knew I had is extremely overwhelming.

"Yes. I want to meet him."

Giovanni dial a number on his phone.

"I need you in my office." He said before hanging up the phone.

He must not have been far from the office because someone is knocking on the door.

"Come in." Giovanni says.

The door opens and a man who looks similar to my dad walks in.

I stand up and turn to face him. When he sees me he looks as if he wants to cry. He rushes over to hug me.

"Zara.." Marcelle says.

"You know who I am?" I hug him back.

"Of course. Most of my business is here in Italy but I have a few connects in America so whenever I would go there, I would check on you all while I was there—discretely of course."

I shake my head because I can't believe what's he's saying.

"Me and your granddad were always there. Every birthday party, every graduation..."

"You two were at my college graduation last year?" I ask.

I look at both of them and they nod their heads.

"Why didn't you come speak."

"We didn't want to cause any unnecessary drama." Marcelle says.

"What's the deal with that anyway? Why aren't you guys and my dad cordial?" I was curious.

"When their mother and I separated, I decided to move back here and Marcelle decided that he wanted to go with me... so ever since then, Alonso always felt that we both abandoned him." Giovanni explained.

"..we would visit often but there was always a fight. The last we visited, words were said and we just all decided that it'd be best to cut ties." Marcelle added.

It breaks my heart to know that my dad was so hurt by this. He's always trying to be so tough that I never would've thought that this was the reason he doesn't talk to Marcelle or Giovanni—my grandad. I have to get used to saying that.

"Well, hopefully that'll all change soon." I say.

Marcelle nods his head and wipes the tear that except my eye.

"So... I'm sure you know what's going on with Mac and Nathan. Do you think he'll hurt Mac?" I ask.

"Honestly, I'm not sure what he's capable of. After seeing the family Nathan was placed with, I can see why he would be jealous of Mac but that's no excuse to do this to his brother." Marcelle says.

Giovanni, Rotimi and I nodded our heads in agreement.

"Rotimi and I went through the file you gave us and we saw a bunch of pictures and coordinates.. does this mean you have an idea of where Nathan is hiding Mac?" I ask.

"Somewhat. Before their mother and I placed them up for adoption, we injected them with tracking devices so that we could always find them but the tracking devices must have worn out over the years because right not it's only telling us that they're still in the states." Marcelle says.

"But we have the best people working on finding their location." Giovanni added.

Rotimi cleared his throat.

"So, what's going to happened when we find Mac? What are you going to do to Nathan?" Rotimi asks.

Before he asked the question, I honestly had forgotten he was in the room.

"They're both my sons. I love them both dearly... however, I'm going to do whatever it takes to save Mac... and if Nathan doesn't want to stand down then.... we'll have to take him out." Marcelle says, trying not to cry.
