Today is the day. Today is the day we have the meeting with Santiago and Harrison. My dad, Marcelle, and grandpa Giovanni spent the last week making sure the business would be well taken care of by people we trusted while we're gone. Brandon and Jeremy are a part of that group of people. They had been wanting to prove that they can handle more responsibility so my dad figured this would be their chance.
While I'm sitting on the plane with my dad, Marcelle and grandad, all I can think about is my mom and Rosa. They're back home with some of my dad's men to make sure the house stays protected.
"We're almost there." Marcelle says.
Those words make me nervous. I feel a hand on top of mine. It's Gavin. Once my family found out how good he is with technology, him not coming with us wasn't an option.
"Don't worry. You'll be fine. We'll all be fine." He assures me.
"Thanks Gav. Have you talked to Rotimi?"
"Yeah. He just landed in Nigeria. He's far away from any of this." Gavin says.
"Good." I say relief.
Rotimi wanted to come with us but I couldn't let him put his career on the line even more than what it already is. He knows I'm safe with my family but he was even more relieved knowing that Gavin would be with me.
I can feel the plane preparing to land so I text Rotimi to tell him I love him before turning off my phone tossing it in my seat.
"Does everybody have their guns?" Grandad asks.
Everyone says yes and nods their heads almost at the same time.
"Uh, where's mine?" I say.
"I was waiting for you to ask." My dad says.
He walks over to me with a box and he's smiling from ear to ear.
"I've been waiting for the right time to give this to you. Right now seems more than appropriate." He says to me.
I open the box while it's still in his hands and I see:
