Footsteps, creaking and doors closing

So, this happened in the middle of the night. I was staying home alone and my mother had taken the dog with her. So, it was just me and the cat.

I had a really hard time falling asleep. The cat was also asleep downstairs since he stayed outside for two days.

First, around 11pm, I heard a few human footsteps in the hallway and some floor creaks in my room a few minutes later. It made me uneasy and I made sure to keep the door to my room shut. Eventually, I fell asleep.

I woke up around 1am, but fell back asleep. But, I was scared awake at 3am on the dot. I was breathing heavily and I heard the closet door shut in the room next to mine (even though we never open it). I was up for a while, paranoid and scared and was eventually scared again by my cat meowing at my door around 4am. I opened the door and he slept on my bed.

Eventually, I fell back asleep.

What do you think those creaking and footsteps were and what do you think closed the closet door?

I checked that room today, and the closet door was wide open...
