I dread meeting Ademar's son more than anything else. If anything, he'd be just as dislikable as his father. Like father, like son, right? I know my feelings towards Ademar are now heavily clouding my judgement but I should consider the cons of meeting him as well.

"Where's Cara?" I ask, changing the topic. I could honestly care less about her whereabouts but I needed to know if she knows about us meeting Ademar's son.

"She's still in college." Ademar answers instead of mom. I shot him daggers with my glare. If only looks could kill...

"When will I be meeting your son?" I said and I noticed my mom glaring at me for not using his name.

"We'll have dinner at my place tomorrow, he'll visit and you'll see him." Ademar responds. What? Before I can stop myself, I felt the words quickly slip out of my tongue.

"He doesn't live with you?" I don't blame him.

"He lives in a house with his friends next to his college. It's far away from here so he barely ever visits." Ademar explains and I nodded wordlessly, digesting his words. I don't think the vast distance is what's stopping him from meeting his father.

"What about his mom?" I ask, pushing my luck.

"Lydia." My mother says in a warning tone but I ignore her. Ademar sucked in a deep breath and scrunched his nose.

"She doesn't live here." He responds calmly. I'm relieved that my simple question didn't turn into a fight or a lecture, not that I'd miss a chance to fight with Ademar but I don't feel like wasting my time arguing with him anyway.

"Lydia, do you- uhm do you want to eat with us?" My mom offered, uncertainty evident in her eyes. I shook my head from side to side. I don't feel like eating with them. I don't know if I'll be able to control my behavior around them.

"I'll head upstairs." I informed them, expecting either of them to say something but they don't. I picked my bag up and immediately charged up the stairs, not looking back. I kicked the door open with my leg and threw myself on the bed, tossing the bag on the floor. I ran my hand through my hair and exhaled deeply.

Out of the blue, my phone buzzes and I almost jumped. I picked it up and it was Tori. Part of me thought it'd be Cole and I don't even know why I was thinking he'd even consider calling me.

"Hey." I said in a raspy voice but I quickly cleared my throat.

"Hi, did you just wake up?" Tori giggled.

"No, I didn't." I say, pushing my hair back.

"Get dressed, we're going to Sauce O' Joe's." She says and I gasp, taken aback by her sentence.

"We?"

"Yeah, Alex and Ryder are joining too." She said.

"When will you pick me up?" I ask, biting on my lower lip as I shifted on my toes and back on my heel repetitively.

"Say..." she sighed, deciding. "after five minutes bitch now get up and get dressed!"

"I beg your pardon?" I chuckled. "How can you be so predictable?"

"What can I say? Now hang up before I do!" She insists and I giggle, hanging up.

It'll be a good opportunity for me to get my mind off of my mom's wedding and the fact that I'll meet Ace tomorrow. I inhaled a long breath and lazily stretched my arms and legs across the bed. I groaned as I got up and I was quick to my feet. I shrouded myself into a basic white shirt with a velvety rose on the upper corner and some jean shorts. I let my hair shower over my shoulders and I slipped my feet into a pair of basic black Converse shoes.

I descended down the stairs and I was greeted by obnoxious horning coming from outside. I looked over my shoulder to find Ademar and my mother speaking. They both glanced at me when they heard me come down and a confused expression was plastered on my mother's face.

"I'm going out with my friends." I inform her and click the door open. The little bit of sunlight left poured inside and I squinted my eyes, intaking sharp breaths.

"Wait." My mother said, rushing towards me. All of her confusion was washed away and subsided with concern. "With who? And where? Why haven't you even told me?"

"Stop bombarding me with questions!" I palmed my face. "It's Tori, mother. Her, Ryder and Alex, and we're heading to a restaurant. Do you need my ID card too?"

"Not just because you're mad at me means that I'll let you leave the house whenever you want." She said and I can hear another horn.

"I'm eighteen for heaven's sake, mom! And we're going out to eat, not party at a club." I told her and shut the door behind me, leaving her no chance to respond. I don't need her approval anymore, just like she didn't need mine when she got engaged to Ademar.

I climbed inside the backseat and they all warmly welcomed me. Tori sat next to Alex and Ryder accompanied me in the backseat.

"We could practically see you fight with your mother, you know that right?" Alex says. I bite on my lower lip, embarrassment showering all over me.

"We weren't fighting." I half-lied. In my defense, this could've all been avoided if she didn't ask me a bunch of intrusive questions.

"You were talking with your hands raised in front of her face and a literal frown was drawn on your face." Tori adds.

"Fine," I eventually gave in, "she's been- overprotective lately...and irritating."

"What did she say?" Tori asks, ripping my littlest bits of patience that I had left. I inhaled a deep breath, trying to control my fury.

"Don't push it, Tori." Ryder warns and I can practically hear Tori rolling her eyes. I gave him an appreciative smile and he returned a small one in return.

When we pulled over at the restaurant, I quickly threw the door open and got out. I watched as they all did the same. Ryder snaked an arm around my shoulder and Alex did the same to Tori. The place was jammed with people. The environment in here was ecstatic and I smiled in satisfaction when I recognized the familiar and welcoming smell inside the restaurant. Muffled music played in the background. Ryder slipped his hand off of my shoulder and held my hand instead. His warm touch sent me shivers down my spine and I felt protected when I'm with him. We chose a booth at the very end of the restaurant and approached it. I rubbed my free hand against my cold legs. Ryder sat opposite of me, next to Tori and Alex was next to me. The waitress approached us and she greeted us with a wide smile. Alex returned it, eyeing her up and down in the most perverted way possible. I poked his chest playfully and a small chuckle escaped his lips.

"What would you guys like to eat? Would you like to have a look at the menu or d-"

"We have our orders ready." Tori cuts her off and says with the fakest smile she can pull off.
We all ordered the same old. Steak and fries for all of them while I ordered a burger and some curly fries. The waitress obliged and in no time, our warm food was already served. I inhaled in the smell of the hot and mouthwatering food. I didn't hesitate to dig in the burger and I started devouring it. I didn't even realize how messily I ate. Meanwhile everyone finished their fries first.

"Someone's hungry." Tori giggles and Alex joins in with her. I was pretty hungry considering I turned my mother's offer to eat dinner with her and Ademar.

"Shut up, she looks adorable when she eats." Ryder comments and he cheekily grinned. I instantly looked away to avoid the shades of red growing on my cheeks. He pressed his index finger and thumb on my chin, forcing our eyes to meet. Now, he can definitely sense the anxiousness I felt when he touched me. His thumb grazed over the corner of my lips and I bit on my lip to avoid licking my lips. Then he fell back again, leaving me hanging.

"Sorry, I couldn't resist. You had mayo on the corner of your lip." Ryder says. I struggled not to intake a huge breath and I refused to show my nervousness.
