His hot breath fanned my neck as he trailed down some kisses on my earlobe and on the spot right below my ear, and I couldn't help but let out a faint moan, he knows already what my weakness is.

"Cara...and my mom...they're are upstairs." I managed to say in between my moaning.

"So? That makes it even better." He said in a low and husky tone. He was about to crash his lips against mine but I stopped him, slightly pushing him by his chest away but I didn't leave much distance between us regardless.

"No, it doesn't. You're crazy if you think they'll let us do this...be this." I say and he becomes quiet. His eyes softened like they had no emotion in them at all before. "Ace, what is this? What are we?" I whimper and I'm glad my voice didn't croak. Ace shakes his head, not knowing how to answer my question.

He sighs and heads over to the counter, seating himself. He patted on a chair in front of him and beckoned me to go to him.

"Come here." He says lowly. My first instinct was to scold him for his choice of words and enlighten him about the fact that I'm not a dog. I decided against that, though and I went to sit in front of him. I pushed the chair so our knees wouldn't touch. If anything, us making body contact will not end up well. It never really does.

"I don't want this to be weird. I wanna be normal friends." I sighed, hoping we could both agree to that. His eyes were full of a peculiar emotion.

"Friends?" He asks, taken aback by my sudden demand.

"Yes. It's all a matter of days until we become...you know." I say awkwardly, rubbing my thighs.

"Fine, if that's what you wish to be." He says flatly.

"Wait, what? Seriously?" I asked. I know I shouldn't expect him to try and change my mind, however, I doubt he'll ever fail to do that if he wanted to.

"Yeah, it's wrong anyway. We shouldn't have done it." He says and shrugs unapologetically and I can feel the my stomach twisting into a knot. I basically asked for this so I shouldn't be mad whether he thinks it was worth it or not.

I wanted him to say something, anything really. The silence between us was unbearable yet also inevitable. I bit down on my tongue until I can feel the familiar iron-like and bitter taste of blood filling my mouth. I swallowed down some water and then sat on the other side from Ace, hoping this wouldn't get any weirder than it already was.

"So..." I intake a sharp breath, subtly trying to gain his attention. "Drive me to La Casa di Porchetta?" I say and the name sounds so foreign on my tongue that Ace begins chuckling. "At least I remember the name, you butthead!" I poked his chest.

"What did you just say?" He says in a serious tone. I'm beginning to regret this.

"You heard me." I say with a cheeky grin, folding my arms beneath my chest. I raised a teasing eyebrow at him. There's no deny that he makes me nervous with his seriousness sometimes, but I managed to act bold now even though I was feeling intimidated.

"I haven't been called by that name since like middle school and I'd like for it to stay that way. Thank you very much." He smiles.

"Whatever." I brushed him off. "So...ready to go?"

"Yeah, let's head out." He says and grabs his car keys from his back pocket.
