** "Hey." He responds. His tone was raspy but in the sexiest way possible.
"Have you just woken up?"
"No, why?" He asks. "Hold on, I'm talking on the phone." He talks to someone. "I said wait, Pen."
All of a sudden, I wanted to hang up. I bit on my lower lip. He's with Penelope, that's probably why his voice is raspy. No wonder what they were doing. I don't have the right to blame him, though, I let him down yesterday in front of an entire party.
"I was calling to apologize." I say and clear my throat. I sounded so stupid and I knew Ace realized that I heard him speak to Penelope.
"Oh, I'm-I'm sorry. It's nothing, Lydia, trust me." He says and I hope it's true. I hear Penelope complaining behind him but he ignores her. "About the job, I'll drive you there."
"Okay." I say. I almost forgot about that. "Goodbye, for now I guess."
"Yeah, goodbye." He says. "And don't worry about last night, I'm not mad at you. You had your reasoning." He says and I can practically see his smirk through the phone.
"You know I did." I giggled. "Alright, goodbye." I say and hang up. I didn't even realize the huge smile that was planted on my face. That's what Ace does to me. He has this effect on me where my body responds to him in such an oddly amazing way.
A few minutes later, the doorbell rang and I opened it, revealing Tori. She was dressed in a plain white shirt and a striped yellow and blue skirt. She enters and scans around.
"Is your mom around?" She asks and I nodded.
"We'll go upstairs. She doesn't know about anything, though." I say in a low whisper, hoping my mom wouldn't hear me. She didn't thankfully.
We both got up and hopped on my bed. I scolded Tori for having her shoes on while she's on my bed, laying. I sat, crosslegged and explained everything to Tori, including Ace and Ryder. Tori's expressionlessness was mainly caused by confusion. She immediately straightened herself up on the headboard and widened her eyes. I thought she was about to scream at me but she surprised me by saying...

"Don't. Say. It." I say through spaces, raising my hands in her face. She was right though, Ace and I should put this to an end and become just friends. "We didn't reach that level yet. There's still a month until Ace becomes my stepbrother."
