"I can speak for myself." I told him, my voice louder than I expected. I heard a couple of cheerful Ooh's and low whistles being released. Ace's jaw clenched and I don't know if it was because of them cheering me on or if it was because I just let him down with my words.

"Where did you find this girl?" Jackson asks, slurping down his beer. I looked at him with a bored look.

"Excuse me?" I scoffed. "I'm his-"

"Lydia." He stops me from continuing my sentence. Why didn't he want to tell them that I'm soon to be his stepsister? Was he embarrassed of me? "She's my friend, Jackson."

"So, about that drink, Lydia?" Kyle repeats and gets up. I got up with him and I didn't care to ask Ace for permission to go with him.

"Sure..." I say, folding my arms beneath my chest. I didn't hear Ace saying anything else. I looked behind my shoulder and I can see him shaking his head lightly, signaling me to come back there. I gave him a bored expression and I turned around, following Kyle. He lead me to the kitchen and grabbed out two red cups. He handed me the cup and I poured myself some cocktail. Spilled drinks decorated the freshly polished concrete. I chugged down the contents and squinted my eyes as I did so. I sat the cup on the table and paused for a second.

"Is it that bad?" Kyle chuckles. I chuckled lightly as well and shook my head from side to side.

"Do you live in this house too?" My curiosity pushes me to ask him.

"Yeah, my sister and I." He tells me. I didn't say a word. This means that Ace lives here with her as well and probably sees her in her...most vulnerable states. I don't even know why he's on my mind right now. I'm supposed to be having fun and not thinking about all the girls that Ace hangs out with. Who am I kidding? I was jealous of those girls. At least they have the opportunity to be with him. Not that I want to be in their positions, all I'm saying is that they're lucky.

"You spaced out." Kyle points out the obvious. I simply nodded and poured myself some more cocktail. "What are you thinking about?" He asks.

"That's so intrusive." I snickered, engulfing down my drink and feeling the burn in my throat rise, causing me to pour some more cocktail. "Do you guys have a bathroom here?" I asked. I'm surprised he didn't laugh at my question, of course they have a bathroom. "I mean...can you show me where it is?"

"Sure." He told me and sat his cup on the table. "Right this way." He tells me and I followed him out of the kitchen. We travelled up a lot of stairs and I slightly began panting. I inhaled sharp breaths through pursed lips. He pointed over at a door at the very end of the hallway. I thanked him and then I walked down the hallway. I clicked the door open and I saw something I never anticipated. A naked couple were literally eating each other's faces off. I cleared my throat but they didn't seem to notice my presence.

"Forget it." I muttered under my breath and shut the door again. I sighed in disappointment, regretting my decision to even attend this party. Not that Ace gave me much of a choice anyway. I need to think positively. I reminded myself that the booze will kick in any second and I will feel as lively as ever.

I reached the bottom of the stairs again and I scanned around the room, looking for Ace. Two girls were giggling and they blindly pushed past me. I whimpered and brushed my dress off, pulling it down.

"Hi." A deep voice says. I turned around and I found a drunken tall guy hovering over me. He wore a devilish smirk. I gulped a huge lump in my throat and I forced a tight smile on. "Can I offer you a drink? I've never seen you here."

"Uhm...I've had my drinks actually." I told him.

"Let me offer you another one." He says and placed his hand on my bare shoulder. I immediately froze in place, my chest rising and falling intensely. "Just one." He says and tried to drag me somewhere.

"I told you I don't want a fucking drink!" I yelled in his face. I wasn't going to wait for someone to save me and I wasn't going to let this guy take me someplace I don't know either. With all my might and main, I managed to kick him in his soft spot and he retreated, groaning in pain. I immediately ran and made my way to the entrance. I looked behind my shoulder and to my surprise the guy was gone. I sighed in relief. To add more to my relief, I spotted the circle in front of me. I approached it but I couldn't find Ace. It was only when I sat back down that I saw him. I recognized him from his light brown hair.

He was locking lips with Penelope and I can feel my body freezing in place. His hands were touching her hips and she was laying on his torso. They occupied a whole couch for themselves. I wanted to vomit all of the contents of my stomach out. This adds to the list of the many things I didn't expect to see today.
