The ride was completely silent. My mind span with the several things I wanted to say to Ace. I wanted to scream in his face and release my anger on him but I thought it was best if I kept it to myself. I bottled up my emotions. Ace turned his head to face me. He flashed me an innocent smile as his dimples reappeared on his face. Suddenly, all of my anger is immediately washed away and replaced with a very strong emotion. I don't know what it was, but I feel it every single time I'm with Ace.

I rested my head back, this time I was fully awake and perfectly sober and I was sure I wouldn't sleep. When Ace finally pulled over to the house, it was thirty past seven. I only have thirty minutes to get ready.

"Do you want your shirt back?" I asked as I unfastened my seatbelt. I clicked the door open and placed one leg out.

"No, you can keep it." He says, running a hand through his hair. I was relieved that we can talk about normal stuff like this and not always be awkward around each other because we kissed. "You're in such a hurry, aren't you?" He asks and I nodded wordlessly.

"Thanks for the ride." I tell him. He nods in response.

"I don't have classes today anyway, it's chill."

"It's chill?" I mimicked his voice playfully. I know I don't practically have time to joke around but his choice of words intrigued me as much as it made me laugh. I got out of the car and rushed over to my doorstep. I fumbled with my keys until I found the right one and unlocked the door. The house seemed very quiet and moveless. I charged up the stairs and swiftly got ready. I can't help but feel good about today. I'm not sure whether it's because I made it here on time or if it's because I just spent an entire day hanging out with Ace.

When I arrived at the parking lot, I checked the time and I was relieved that I arrived early. I got out of the car and grabbed my bag as I headed to the school. I scanned around the hallway aimlessly. I couldn't find Tori anywhere and as soon as she spots me, she'll want me to spill every single detail about that party. I mentally sigh in disappointment. I should've not picked up my mom's call.

"Lydia?" A familiar voice says. I turned around and it was Ryder and Alex. A small smile played on my lips.

"Hi guys." I greeted them, waving with my hand.

"Hey, have you seen Tori?" Alex asks and I shook my head from side to side.

"You haven't either?" I ask.

"We have but she disappeared just a few minutes ago." Ryder says. He leaned closer and added, "she also told us about that party you went to...and since when do you go to parties?" There was no hint of accusation or irritation behind his tone, just curiosity. I shrugged unapologetically.

"A friend reached out to me and they told me about this party so I said yes." I half-lied. Ace is not my friend for one, and I didn't even have a choice in the matter but Ryder didn't need to know that.

"Oh." He simply says.

"Well now that you have interest in parties, you'll come with us next weekend, there will be one." He tells me. Another party? Oh no, definitely not.

"I thought you had a date with Lily, that waitress in Sauce O' Joe's." I say. At this point, I'll be sure to make stupid excuses to not attend a party. Something bad always happens there.

"The date is on Friday and the party's on Saturday." He says, looking over at Ryder then back at me. Ryder was silent, unsure of what to say. I cocked my head to the side questionably.

"How about...a movie night?" I suggested. Ryder sighed a long sigh of...disappointment?

"That's what we do literally every time you say you don't wanna go to parties." Ryder complains in a childish manner. I'm going to kill Tori for telling them about me going to that party. "And who's that friend of yours that you went to a party with? Was it a guy?" Now, there are definitely many mixed emotions hidden behind Ryder's voice that I can't seem to put my finger on.

"It was a college party. Okay?" I chuckled humorlessly and placed my hands over my hips.

"You didn't answer my other question."

"Why do I feel like I'm obliged to? It doesn't matter anyway." I widened my eyes in disbelief. Ryder and I rarely ever fight so I feel uncomfortable to be arguing with him. I really hope Tori comes in and stops this or for Alex to speak up and console Ryder.

"Because I need to know, Lydia." He scoffed. His tone was getting louder and louder.

"No you don't."

"Are you hiding something?" He asks, shaking his head. He can obviously know I am hiding something by my silence. "Look, Lydia, I'm just looking out for you, there's absolutely no need for you to be so-"

"There's no need for you to be so intrusive." I cut him off, my lips lining into a thin line. "I have class, I need to go." I told them. I was disappointed at Alex for not interfering into this but I know that his intentions are good and he didn't want to make this a bigger deal. At the same time, I don't know why Ryder was acting so weird. We were fine, actually we were really great and I don't know what has gotten into him.

I finished all my classes of today and there was only English left. I entered and I was surprised not to see Cole present. He's usually one of the first people to show up and I'm the last. I took a seat in my usual place and reluctantly got out my notebook. A few minutes later, Cole didn't show up either. What the hell is happening?
