I followed blonde out the classroom, leaving our classmates concerned.Bakugou walked a few feet ahead of me as he led me through the hallway. I wasn't sure what was up, but I could tell something was on his mind. He was being unusually quiet and the tension surrounding him was noticeably thick.
I settled my eyes on his back, furrowing my eyebrows. "Where are we going?"
"Shut up," was all he said.
I roll my eyes. "You don't have to be rude about it."
He brought me to the rooftop and scoffed as he sat down. I sighed, quietly closing the door behind us and taking a seat a few feet away from him. I gaze at the sky and close my eyes to the soft breeze of the midday air. It was peaceful and it smelt clean.
I was scared of what his reaction might be if I called him his nickname I gave him when we were kids. Ever since I first walked through class 1-A's doors and saw him, I couldn't help, but feel like I should pretend not to know him. Who knows what would've happened.
Now that we were alone and it's been a few days since I've joined U.A. Maybe I can take the opportunity to rekindle our friendship he destroyed.
"How are you, Baku-chan?"
He scoffed. "Don't call me that damn nickname!"
"You know you like it. You did when we were kids."
"Fuck off!"
I chuckled, finding it fun to tease Bakugou. Back then, it was the complete opposite. He was the one always teasing others, mostly on me and Midoriya. But his teasing was much harsher. "So what's up?"
He met my eyes, a sort of softness on his features. "The old hag wants you and your family to come over for dinner tonight."
I blinked. "'Old hag'?" I repeated questionably. "Oh, you mean your mom."
I grinned. I was genuinely happy Mitsuki wanted us over for dinner. I don't remember the last time my parents got to hang out with their friends.
Bakugou mumbled something inaudible and turned away.
"Say, Baku-chan?"
"What?" He grumbled.
"Want to have lunch together?"
。。。
"Where the hell are you going?"
I raise an eyebrow. "Um, over there?" I motion to Midoriya and the others at our usual table with my head.
"Fuck no," Bakugou says. "I'm not sitting anywhere near the damn Deku."
I groan as I watch the blonde turn to an empty table. I purse my lips and send them a sheepish smile, shrugging off their confused expressions.
Taking a seat next to Bakugou, I can't help, but smile. "What the fuck are you smiling about?"
I shake my head, leaning my chin in my hand. "Nothing. I'm just happy." I take a bite of my food, catching the small blush on Bakugou's cheeks.
"That damn quirk of yours is fucking annoying."
"Shut up, at least you don't have to worry about me lying to you." I knew how much Bakugou hated liars as a kid, so I assumed he was still the same way now.
Bakugou clicked his tongue, and the rest of our lunch was left in a comfortable silence. His presence was soothing even though he gave off an irritated aura.
I could feel eyes boring in the back of my head, but I ignored it the best I could. "How frustrating," I whisper before sipping my apple juice.
My feet bounced as I gazed on Bakugou. The scold that was usually on his face was gone and replaced with a relaxed look. His eyes were softer looking as he focused on his tray.
My eyes trailed along his jaw and down his neck. His jawline was sharp and I could tell just from the way he presented himself that he was confident in his looks. I don't blame him.
"The fuck are you looking at?"
I meet his red eyes and bluntly reply, "You, duh."
He clicked his tongue again and turned away. "So what's your story?" Seeing that I looked confused, he continued, "You fucking disappeared and then you suddenly show up here like you're the shit."
"I mean, I don't think I'd go that far to saying I'm 'the shit'." I laugh, tapping my pinky finger on the table. I tell him about how my dad wanted to train me to control my quirk better. I noticed how attentive he was as I spoke, which was surprising. I wasn't expecting him to look so interested.
"There's just one think that's been bothering me," I say, pointing my fork at the male. "Why were you so mean to me and Izuchan when we were kids? We treated you with equal love and support yet you backstabbed us by bullying."
Bakugou seemed caught off guard. He tched and jabbed his fork in his food, his eyes challenging mine. "I don't have to explain shit to you, Abe."
I hummed as I maintained eye contact, having to let my question go. Bakugou is a stubborn one and has a high profile of himself. His pride is one that he seems to value a lot.
I smirk, getting up to bring my plate away. "What ever you say."
I leave the male to himself as I walk away. My first mission of being at this school will be to break Bakugou into a better person. His little attitude won't pass me so easily like it did back when we were kids.
