The day of the sports festival finally came. After days of harsh training from Bakugou, I felt more confident in my abilities and I think we were able to get a lot closer because of it.
My classmates and I are currently staying in the waiting room. I stood next to Uraraka, playing with the ends of my pe uniform. No one was allowed to wear our hero costumes since we'd be at an unfair advantage.
Iida busted through the room announcing that the event will start soon.
I swallow hard, my heart beating faster than it had been before. I fiddle with my finger and purse my lips.
"Midoriya."
I look up to see Todoroki stepping up to my childhood friend. I furrow my eyebrows as the class turned their attention to the two.
"Todoroki? What is it?"
"Looking at things objectively, I think I'm stronger than you." My expressions drops to a glare as Midoriya nods. "But... All Might has his eye on you, doesn't he? I'm not trying to pry about that. But I'm going to beat you."
I raise an eyebrow, shifting my weight to my left leg. "Is the best in the class making a declaration of war?" Kaminari questions almost sarcastically.
"Hey, hey, hey!" Kirishima says as he goes up to the two. "Why are you picking a fight all of a sudden? We're about to start."
Todoroki shrugs his hand off. "We're not here to play at being friends. So what does it matter?"
My phone buzzes in my pocket. I take it out and read the message that was sent. My eyes widen and I feel the disappointment replace my nervousness.
Tucking my phone away, I sigh, ignoring Uraraka's stare.
The one day I really needed my parents and they get caught up at work. Not so surprising.

"Holy shit, it's Midnight!" I squeal quietly, shaking Midoriya from behind. "She's one of my favorite heroes right behind Lady Love!"
"I-Is that so?"
Midnight silences everyone's uproar with her whip in her hand. "Representing the students is Bakugou Katsuki from Class 1-A!" She announces.
I tense up, silently pleading it to go smoothly. This wasn't going to end well if Bakugou is the one to represent our class. The stadium is soundless as we all await for him to speak, my class dreading what he'll say.
"I pledge," he begins as I purse my lips. "That I'll be number one."
"That's Baku-chan for you," I murmur as the other students boo him. I hide my face in my hands in embarrassment. I could feel the anger and irritation from the others directed towards my class.
