Hazel's POV:
On reaching their room I let out a sigh and raise my hand to knock on the door.
"I don't know if I can ask her for this Ethan. She is my daughter. I can't force her for this," I hear mom's muffled voice from inside, stopping me from knocking the door.
"Do you think we have any other choice," dad says in his usual stunned voice. What are they talking about? What do they want me to do? Several questions pop up in my head, building curiosity inside of me.
I hear footsteps coming towards the door. It opens and mom is standing in front of me.
"Hazel, honey what are you doing here?" she says in surprise. Her face pale.
"Yeah, Liza told me you haven't eaten breakfast. Is everything okay?"
"Yeah, everything is fine. We were waiting for you. Now that you are up let's have breakfast together," she says in an oddly cheerful manner.
Nodding uncomfortably I go to the dining area followed by mom. Liza has everything prepared. The delicious aroma of caffeine and French toast filling the room. Mom and I sit on the table and after a while, dad joins us.
Liza serves the usual coffee to mom and dad and tea to me. I have never been a coffee person; I have always preferred tea. It calms me.
There is an uncomfortable silence in the room. I take a bite of the French toast, slowly chewing it waiting for them to break the silence.
"Mom is everything okay," I say out of curiosity, seeing their tensed expressions.
Mom looks back and forth at me and dad with a dreadful expression.
"Mom, you are scaring me now. Is everything okay?" I ask again.
"Camilla tell her already. There is no use of prolonging," dad speaks.
"Dad, what is it?" I say turning my attention to him. Mom's tensed expression scaring me. Mom let out a sigh. "Hazel?"
"Yes?"
She let out a deep sigh "You know I love you and always want you to be happy," She pauses. I raise my brows eagerly waiting for her to continue. "We have never forced you for anything,"
"Yeah so?" I ask, raising my brows.
She lets out a deep sigh. "Last night Tyler Wood came over. He is offering us a deal and we have no choice but accept it because our company is in the loss and we need your help,"
So all this is about the company and business. "What does it have to do with me? How can I help you?" If it is about work, I will try everything to help them, I want to.
"He wants us to have a relationship, a strong bond. He wants you because you are our only daughter to marry his son," she says leaving me thunderstruck. Marry? Where did that come from? It was not in my mind. How can he demand such a thing?
How can she just ask me to marry someone's son? Tyler wood's son. It's Jonah Marais Wood.
"But mom. I can't. You know I can't. Why would you say such a thing? I am only 18..." I say in shock and panic.
"You are over only hope now," I withdraw my gaze towards dad.
"Dad?"
"We are not forcing you, honey. We are just asking for a favor," he says.
"But I am going to college this September. I can't,"
"Hazel, just give us one year, I promise. One year and we will get you out of it," Mom speaks. "And then you can join college,"
"But mom do you even know his son. He is a psychopath," I try to reason with mom.
Mom sighs. "Look, Hazel. Take your time to think. Again we are not forcing you but it really matters to us,"
My head is spinning and I am feeling nauseous.
"I just need some time to think," I say weakly and leave.
Here is the chapter I promised for Monday. Don't forget to vote. WHAT DO YOU THINK HAZEL WILL DO NOW?
