Hazel's POV:
'Knock Knock'
"Come in," I say, tugging my wavy light brown hair into a ponytail.
Liza our house worker peeks her head in. She is a middle-aged woman with short height. "Thank god you are up. Come quickly. You know Mrs. Camilla does not like to eat alone," she says politely.
I put the brush on the dressing table. "I am right behind you," I say, giving her a bright smile.
My mother does not like to eat alone, and that is why I have to wake up early, when dad is not present, to have breakfast with mom.
I wear my glasses and follow Liza past the wooden stairs and narrow hallway to the bright dining area, next to the hallway. "Good Morning Mom," I say entering the room.
Mom puts her phone down. "Good Morning Hazel," she says sternly. My mother is not very affectionate. She is a straightforward and serious yet beautiful woman with her fair skin, dark hair and green eyes which I inherited from her.
"Dad left early today?" I sit next to her as Liza pours tea for me.
"Yes, he had some important things to do," she says putting the bite of a scrambled egg into her mouth.
"Thanks," I mutter to Suzan. "Is today something special?" I ask mom, taking a glimpse at her. She looks different today, her makeup is brighter and hair curled, she usually straightens her hair.
"Yes, very special. Today is meeting with the head of Woods enterprises and it is extremely important for our company. Our company depends on this deal. We might lose everything if it doesn't go well." she tells me earnestly. My mother is obsessed with work. She compromises nothing, not even her time for me when it comes to work and business.
"Oh, Hopefully, it goes well then," I say munching the toast of bread.
"Thanks, Hazel." she gets up, showing her dark blue dress which is perfectly hugging her curves and brown heels "I should leave now. Goodbye,"
"Bye, mom. Have a great meeting," My mother is my inspiration. Her confidence and beauty have always inspired me even though she can't give too much time to me and home I still don't want to complain about it because she and dad have done everything for me and Andrew to have a good life. I don't want to be ungrateful about it like Andrew, my brother.
After finishing breakfast, I go to my room. My phone is ringing on the bedside table. I pick it up to see Ava's name on the screen.
"Hey Ava," I say laying on the bed. Ava is my only friend from school because she is the only real and genuine person I know unlike most of the girls in school.
"Hey Hazel, sup?" she says nonchalantly. Ava is a complete opposite of me. She is cheerful, friendly, outgoing and always joking around but I know I can always count on her for anything.
"Just had breakfast. What are the plans for today?"
"I already told you, Hazel," she says.
"No, I am not going to Elijah's party. Let's have a movie night," I protest. Ava wants to go to Elijah's party which she is throwing tonight because it is Friday and everybody wants to enjoy their last summer before college fully. Elijah is the most popular girl in the school and Ava's good friend too because Ava is friends with almost everyone in the school.
"Yes, we are," she says sounding busy. "You can't possibly spend your entire summer watching Netflix,"
"Yes I can," I say, biting my nails.
"I won't let you, my friend," she says. "Shit,"
"What happened?" She has probably done something stupid. She is very clumsy too.
"Spilled coffee on the kitchen counter," her voice coming from a distance. "See you at the party tonight and also Jonah Marais Wood is coming too so there is no way I am spending my night watching movies with you," she says loudly and hurriedly ends the call before I can argue.
I sigh, shaking my head in defeat.
Why doesn't she get over that boy? Jonah, the most popular guy in the town. Girls drool over him just because he is a bad boy and I don't get that. I am sure if he wouldn't be a bad boy no one would care about him. But he is not just popular, he is dangerous. He was my senior in school. There are rumors that he has left college and I am not even surprised. He has the whole business to take over whether he goes to college or not.
I remember once he got into a fight with our English teacher because he gave him a detention. Though I have always feared him when he was in school. He probably has never noticed me and I am glad he hasn't. Hopefully, he won't at the party tonight either.
ATTENTION: I have changed the names of Daniel and Noah to their original names instead so now DANIEL is JONAH and NOAH is CORBYN, I am sorry for this confusion but I though it would be better.
