Hazel's POV:
"Hazel," I hear and turn around to see Ava walking towards us. I let out a sigh of relief. "Sorry I am late,"
"It's okay. At least you are here," Mom says with a smile as she reaches us.
"Thank god you are here," I tell her. She is wearing an elegant black one-shoulder dress and her hair is pulled up in a tight bun. "I would seriously jump out of the window," I say in a hushed voice and she chuckles. "This isn't funny," I nudge her.
"Don't worry. Everything will be okay," she says reassuringly.
We enter the medium-sized narrow courtroom with chairs set up in a lane. A middle-aged lady is standing on the front who oddly reminds me of Liza.
After giving me a tight hug mom hands me the wedding ring she bought for Jonah. There is no running away from this. Want it or not I have to go there and exchange vows with a guy I barely even know. I can feel my anxiety building inside of me.
I hear someone clears a throat and I look up to see Jonah waiting for me to move. I have been ignoring him this whole time but I can't anymore. Jonah and I move to the lady and the rest takes the seat.
We both stand there facing each other, his hand still in his pockets. I try everything to not look him into the eye.
The lady gives a long speech on the marriage which I don't even pay attention to cause I am busy thinking about how I still can stop this torture.
And comes time for vows, for which she addresses me. I take in a deep breath as she asks me to repeat after her.
I look into his green eyes. It feels so intimidating; him looking sharply at me.
We exchange the vows, every word I say is forced and with every promise I make my heart clenches wanting to stop and run away. Internally, I try to calm myself that it is just for a few months and it will just be a life experience and this nightmare will soon end.
And I Hazel Gwen White takes Jonah Marais Wood as my lawfully wedded husband and so does he. After vows, we exchange rings which I probably will remove from my finger later.
I receive sympathetic hugs from mom, dad, and Ava. Mom tells me she doesn't like Jonah as well and isn't satisfied and wishes she had any other choice because if they wouldn't have accepted this deal our life-long business would have died and we would have to give up everything we have.
"I wish you could stay with me Ava," I say hugging her. After some paperwork, we go to Jonah's house.
"Yeah me too. You know I love checking out your husband," she says mischievously and I roll my eyes. "It seems so wrong, calling him your husband. I am jealous,"
"Don't worry he is yours," I tell her and look back at Dad, Tyler Wood and Jonah sitting in the living room. It is a two-story house with a huge lawn. There are stairs right next to the doorway. Straight to the doorway is a sitting area with grey-colored couches. There are a huge window and a glass door that leads to the backyard. Right behind the sitting room is a kitchen and a dining area in between. "Mom, why can't I just live with you guys? I am married to him, the point has been made,"
Mom caresses my face, I can see a tear in the corner of her eye. "My baby, this doesn't work like this. Tyler doesn't consider it as a paper marriage," she tells me.
"That man is actually dumb," I say angrily.
"Shh... He'll listen," mom says.
"So? Are the paper works for the business deal signed?" I ask her and she nods. "Then I can say whatever I want to. Not that he can call it off. It is a contract,"
