Chapter 26: The Mission to Accept on

~Mal's POV~

After a month, our parents have arrived with news that they have feared and it so happens that we seven will be involved in the situation. It's the first day of the second month of spring, the sun shined brightly in every windows of the castle. I walked towards the banquet hall and ate my breakfast in a rush. After I ate, I ran to the library and saw my friends gathered on the table with their parents sitting. They saw me coming and immediately locked their eyes on me as I make my way at the back of my mother who was about to start talking.

"Mal, just in time." Margaret said as she turned to me with a smile that shortly faded after. "Let's get started shall we?" She continued.

"It just so happens that you seven will be out immediately for your first mission and--" she was cut off by us shrieking with excitement. We immediately stopped and said our 'sorrys' as she continues.

"Your first mission as Guardians is to take down the source of the Forbidden power and finish your test to become actual and official Guardians of the realm." Margaret said with a frown as she casted down her eyes along with the other parents in the library. We immediately looked at them and noticed their behavior that made us all worry.

"Mom, are you alright?" She turned to me and gave a faint smile. "I am fine sweety, its just that I'm worried about all of your lives." She said with a sad tone that took me by surprise.

"Mom, what do you mean?" I asked as I kneel down and took her hands in mine. She looked at me with eyes about to cry and sighed deeply. "Monster, we are all scared of your mission with your friends. The Forbidden power started to leak in the human realm and if it reaches in the hands of Togaro, we won't know what will happen to all of you. Your test is another situation you all have to face." She stopped and immediately helped me to stand up and listen to her.

Everyone in the library accepted silence as they all watch my mom talk with fear in her voice that gave the other parents a chill down their spine. "What is our test that was given by Hela and Terro themselves, Auntie?" Angel said with curiosity.

"You all will have to go to your home Realm and take the test together, except Mal." She said as she looked at me and casted her eyes down quickly. "Why is Mal going to take her test alone? Shouldn't we help her?" Alex interject. "Yeah, why is Mal going to face that test alone?" Sam added. We all looked at each other and Arox suddenly broke the intense silence.

"Mal has to take the test alone because she is your leader in the team. Her test is the test of control for she holds the most dangerous power in her hands that she needed to control on in order for her to become more powerful." We all looked shocked and curious at the same time and felt their eyes on me. Arox without hesitation, continued as he as well looked at me.

"Mal, do you know what's in your birth necklace?" He asked as he pointed at my necklace resting on my chest. I looked at it and looked back to him and shook my head. "Your necklace was once your mother's. It holds the last drop of Forbidden magic from the past war. You were chosen both by your mother and Hela herself to protect and use it for good." He said as I casted down my eyes this time and take everything in my head with fear and confusion. "So that's why my eyes kept on glowing from the past month. My power is interacted with the Forbidden magic." Arox nodded as if he agreed with my discovery. My eyes relaxed and I felt relief that I can actually control it yet fear haven't left.

After a few hours, my friends' parents went all back home and we all decided to start with my own test.

"Mal, where do you think the test will occur?" Cass asked as she looked at me with worry. "Not sure but soon enough we'll know when time comes." I answered as we went towards our own bedrooms and call it a night.
