seven, bully billy

Julian came to school later than usual today. For good reason too. His mother had an appointment and that meant his older sister had to drive him to school. The only problem was, she decided to pick up practically the whole population of New York.

He was about to go to Matthews' class when he heard footsteps. Due to curiosity taking over his body he decided to see who the hell it was.

He walked pasted the janitors closet but took a double take and turned back when he saw a family boy just sitting there. "Dr Turtleneck?"

Farkle frowned at the sight of him and looked away. "Please don't call me that anymore."

"Okay," Julian nodded, taking a seat next to him. "Why though?"

Farkle paused, contemplating whether he should tell him or not. "Someone made fun of them...are we friends Julian?"

The question caught him off guard because he thought that was evident and obvious. "Of course we are. Why wouldn't we be?"

"Because you're actually someone. You're someone famous. People like you. People don't like me." Farkle frowned as he played with his hands.

"People do like you Farkle. I know we're not close but I really do like you as a person. You're really cool. And smarter than everyone I know." Julian stood, becoming more and more passionate by the minute.

"That's because most people you know are quite the opposite of intellectuals." Farkle stated, cracking a smile at his joke.

Julian also grinned as he nodded in agreement. "Yeah, I guess that's true."

"Thank you." The boy with light brown hair brought the taller boy into a hug.

The next day in gym class, Julian decided to walk up to the boy known as Billy.

He hadn't known much about him but he knew him and Lucas were getting close since they were both on the baseball team.

"You don't know anything about Farkle's anonymous bully do you?" He questioned, sensing he was definitely going to get his answers.

Billy shrugged 'no'. "You don't think they're different than us?"

Lucas heard part of their conversation and decided to walk over to them.

"What do you mean? Smarter? Yeah, he's the smartest kid in school, but he doesn't make a big deal about it. I mean, he does wanna take over the world and everything, but frankly, I'd like to see what he does with it.And as for Alfie the kids talented he's gonna go places,just because he would rather play his guitar then play baseball doesn't mean he's different." Lucas told Billy.

"Lucas, Farkle is a nothing." Billy told Lucas.

"It was you!" Julian wanted nothing more to punch Billy square in the face.

"You're the one who did this to him? Why would you do that to guys like him? " Lucas grabs Billy and pushes him to the wall.

"I don't know. 'Cause he's them. You wanna let me go now?" Billy asked.

"You're the nothing, Billy!" Lucas spat.

"Lucas, don't." Maya warned him.

"I thought this was what you wanted, Maya." Lucas reminded her.

"What? She wanted you to pop me, Mr. Perfect? Well, I don't think that's what he's gonna do." Billy chuckled.

"Yeah. No, that's what I'm gonna do." Lucas told him.

"No! That's what he wants. He wants you to be like him." Maya said as she jumped on Lucas' back.

"You see, Lucas is like me. We live in a cloud of awesomeness, remember? Handshake?" Billy does the handshake solo.

"I don't like you like this. This isn't the Billy I know. And I wanna know why and I wanna know now. And would you get off my back?" Lucas said directing the last part to Maya who just jumped off his back.

"Come on, man, the Billy you know is your teammate, and that comes way before whatever these guys are to you." Billy scoffed.

"These guys?"Riley asked.

"Boy, are you wrong." Maya told him.

"These guys are my friends... all the time, not just on the field." Lucas told billy.

"How are you even friends with him?" Billy asked referring to Farkle.

"Because I can depend on him, because he's the most loyal people I've ever met, because he's one of my best friends." Lucas told Billy.

"You really mean that? You're my best friend, too!" Farkle smiled, announcing his presence.

"Farkle, how'd you get up there? I thought you couldn't climb the ropes." Lucas questions.

"I can't! But in desperate situations, apparently I can fly!" Farkle explained.

"Go super Farkle." Julian light smiled before he goes and helps Maya and Riley gather enough mats for Farkle to fall down on.

"You really don't want to be friends with a goofball like that?" Lucas asked.

"Not really, no."

"Let me ask you something. What's wrong with you?" Lucas asked.

"There's nothing wrong with me." Billy told him.

"I've never actually seen you hang out with anybody that isn't on the team." Lucas realised.

"Dude, whatever. I don't need this." Billy rolled his eyes.

"You don't? Too bad. Because friends like Farkle don't just fall out of thin air." Lucas shrugged as almost on clue slipped off the rope and screamed.

"You can have him. You'll figure out sooner or later that they're not us."Billy shrugged.

"Who's us?" Lucas asked.

Billy starts leaving the gym and runs into Harley.

"Nice. That's exactly the way I used to think. Now here I am... with a mop." Harley told him.

Billy sighs.

"Okay, we're done. It's all over. Nothing more to do except carry on with our simple, middle-school lives. Except... "Maya said pointing to Riley.

"What are we gonna do about Billy?" Riley asked.

"Riley, you can't fix everything. Okay, go ahead." Maya shrugged.

"I almost died." Farkle breathes.

"I know, buddy." Lucas patted his back as the pair plus Riley leave the gym.

The blonde girl turned to Julian. "You coming to help with Riley's master plan?" Maya questioned him.

"Nah, I gotta buy my mom some food, she's stuck at the hospital and I don't wanna let her eat shitty hospital food." Julian politely declined, stuffing his hands in his pockets.

Concern washed over her face. "You're moms in hospital?"

"It's just for a few tests, she'll be fine." He reassured her.

However when she gave him an unsatisfied look, he just swung his arm over her shoulder.

"Trust me."
