The drunk stumbled into the streets and out of the bar. His steps heavy and wavy as he weaved through the dark and empty pathway. Only a few street lights were on and casted curvy shadows that followed him home.
He coughed once and wiped a hand across his face. His clothes rotted with the sweet smell of alcohol and burning odor of smork. The street and road appeared empty and hollow at three O clock in the morning.
The world appeared dead and black, yet he, the drunk, reminded alive. A sole fire burning softly in pitch night.
His feet dully hit the wet peaches of cement. He didn't register the cold water, his mind was blissfully foggy. He continued tumbled and stumbled his way unwittingly took a path that never lead him home.
"Help! Please help me!"
The drunk stumbled against a ally wall as the shouts got louder. He wasn't entirely aware if he was imagining the voice.
It wouldn't be the first time.
But no, there she was. Another burning flame in this night. Her clothes halfed ripped off and her hair fanning behind like a kite.
"Please, please." She through herself at the drunk in desperation." They're coming- they're coming."
The drunk stupidly hugged her in his body."N-noo worries babe I g-got this." His words stirred as he leaned his face towards hers.
"What are you going to do? Your just a drunk!" She cried and pulled away.
He felt a spark of irritation.
"You cam-come to me didn't, yah." He pointed at the trash can."Get in there."
The girl winced but did as he told.
The drunk took out one of his cigarettes and lite it up.
Loud footsteps raced through the ally and soon a group of men appeared.
"Hey, old man. You seen a girl around here?" Asked what appeared to be the leader.
"I-I thought i was loo-king at one.." The drunk rised a finger and pointed at the group.
Needlessly to say he got the beating of his life.
"Ugh, stupid fool!" One member of the group yelled spited at his withering body.
"Come on, da gal ain't here. Lets go boys." They made their way out the ally and left.
The girl waited a few more minutes after hearing they rushing footsteps before popping out of the trash. She ran to the old man.
"I can't believe it, you saved me!" She cried as she helped him up slowly and leaned him against the dirty ally wall.
"Wha- what else do you expect fr-omm a army Jeneeeral?" He stirred at her and she froze.
"You were apart of the army?" She asked softly but he had already passed out against the wall his fire finally going out.
