The sound of a police whistle cut through the air as the group walked forward.
"Hey, you! You! I'm talking to you!" An officer yelled behind them. They all turned, Scarlet glaring at the officer. All she wanted was to get to the hotel and try to relax as best as possible. She wanted to take an actual shower without having a perverted monkey trying to watch her.
The officer pointed at Polnareff, who looked confused and pointed at himself.
"You! You threw this trash, didn't you?!" The officer demanded. "That's a fine of five hundred Singapore dollars!"
"What? Five hundred?" Polnareff asked, still confused.
"In Singapore, the law says you will be fined for littering!" The officer explained. What had Polnareff littered?
"Five hundred Singapore dollars..." Kakyoin muttered.
"That's about 40,000 yen." Joseph answered.
"Trash?" Avdol asked. The officer ignored them and stayed focused on Polnareff.
"Got it?" He demanded once again.
"Trash?" Polnareff asked. "What are you talking about?" The officer gestured down. Scarlet followed to where he was pointing and laughed. Avdol let out a small chuckle after her.
The officer had been pointing at Polnareff's luggage.
"I don't see anything here besides my own luggage." Polnareff said, and the officer's eyes widened as Polnareff tapped his chest. "Would you be so kind as to tell me what trash you're referring to?" The officer stepped back, but Polnareff placed his hand on the officer's shoulder. "Where is this trash, sir?" Polnareff asked with a forced smile. Scarlet tried her hardest to hold in her laughter. Kakyoin elbowed her softly, but he, too, had a smile on his face.
"That's your luggage?" The officer was bewildered.
"That's right."
"I-I'm terribly sorry!" The officer apologized, and the group, with the exception of Polnareff and the officer, all laughed. Anne and Scarlet's laughs stood out the most from the rest of their low laughs. Polnareff turned towards them, and Anne stopped laughing and turned away as the rest of the group turned towards her as well.
"Well, I'll be going, then..." the officer said, and rushed away as Polnareff shooed him.
"What's with the kid? She's still following us." Polnareff asked as Anne sat down on the other side of the sidewalk. Scarlet looked at her. As much as she liked the kid, she agreed with Polnareff. It wasn't safe for Anne to be staying with them.
"Hey, weren't you going to go see your father?" Joseph asked the question she was thinking.
"Why don't you stop following us and get going?" Polnareff asked as well. Scarlet gave him a look at his rude demand.
"I'm meeting up with him in five days. I can go wherever I want! I'm not taking orders from you guys!" Anne replied, turning her head with attitude away from them. But a few seconds after, she looked back at the group, at Scarlet and Jotaro.
"She'll be in danger if she stays with us." Avdol said.
"Maybe she doesn't have any money." Scarlet suggested. Joseph sighed.
"All right. I guess we can pay for her hotel room. Scarlet, bring her, but don't hurt her pride." She nodded and went to get her.
"Hey, Anne." Scarlet crouched down in front of her. "While you wait for your father, you can stay with us. We'll get you a hotel room for a few days." Anne looked up at her then nodded, and the both of them got up. The group had started walking, but Polnareff was staring at the pair. Scarlet raised an eyebrow at him, and he quickly looked away and followed the others as they walked to the hotel.
