"Listen up. I don't usually lecture. Stupid people are stupid because they don't understand something even when you keep repeating it. You know guys like that, right? Idiots that just don't understand. But you know, uh..." Polnareff kept talking, then trailed off. "I never got your name."

Scarlet took a deep breath, annoyed at his constant talking to the girl they picked up in Calcutta, the one who saved Hol Horse. She wasn't jealous. He was right behind her, and talking rather loudly.

"Nena." She answered.

"Nena! That's a great name." Polnareff replied. "You're the daughter of a wealthy family in the sacred city Varanasi that we're passing through, right? You're good-looking, and I can see that you're a smart girl. I have an eye for people, so I'm going to lecture you."

Scarlet rolled her eyes and nudged Kakyoin, who sat next to her. He turned to her, and she silently mocked Polnareff, mouthing his words and making funny faces. Kakyoin chuckled softly, and she smiled at him.

Polnareff continued his lecture, but Scarlet tuned it out as she and Kakyoin sat in silence. She wanted to lay her head on his shoulder or start a conversation, but she didn't let herself. There were more important things to think about. Like when they would finally get off the damn bus and not have to listen to Polnareff lecturing Nena about how Hol Horse was using her.

"Hey, it's coming into view." Kakyoin pointed out, and Scarlet sat up a bit to try and see the city. "The city of Varanasi."

When they finally got off the bus, Scarlet was the first one outside. She breathed the fresh air and sighed deeply, thankful for the lack of Polnareff's lecture.

"Looks like the spot I thought was a bug bite got infected." Joseph said, raising his arm and showing his injury to the group. Scarlet cringed and stepped back a bit. It had gone from a small bump to taking up nearly a third of his arm. It had pink veins connecting it to Joseph's arm, and looked disgusting.

"It's definitely swollen." Kakyoin observed. "It would be best to have a doctor look at it before it gets worse."

"Hey, doesn't that sort of look like a person's face?" Polnareff pointed out. Scarlet punched his shoulder.

"That's gross, Pol. But yeah, it kinda looks like you." She joked as Polnareff rubbed his arm.

"Stop kidding around, you two." Joseph commanded, and they nodded.

"Sorry, Mr. Joestar." Scarlet muttered, as Polnareff chuckled softly.

"Want me to go to the hospital with you?" He asked, and Joseph rolled his eyes.

"No! Stop treating me like an old man."

Joseph started heading to the clinic after giving the group money to get a hotel for them to stay at.

They separated after getting their rooms, Polnareff taking Nena out to walk around Varanasi while Kakyoin, Jotaro and Scarlet stayed in the hotel. Scarlet sat on the bed in her room. Thankfully, they were able to find rooms next to each other. She checked the wounds on her leg and stomach.

Her leg had healed up quite nicely, and luckily for her, so did her abdomen. The gash wasn't as deep as she thought. It was above her belly button, but not too high that it could be seen from the skin she had exposed due to the sweater's broken zipper.

She kicked her boots off and fell back onto the bed, staring at the ceiling. She made Venus appear and lay next to her, also staring at the ceiling. Scarlet turned to her.

"Should I call my mamma and papà?" She asked, her Italian heritage showing from her pronunciation of the words. "I wonder if they'd answer...if someone called them from all the way over here..." She whispered in Italian. Though she spoke great Japanese thanks to her brother and English thanks to her sisters, Italian was always her go to language if she could use it. It gave her pride to be able to speak such a wonderful language. She was on her way to learning French, mostly for the purpose of using it to flirt or talk crap about her friends jokingly. She wondered if she'd ever be able to do that. She didn't have much progress in learning it, and it was possible she never would get more progress in.
