"Avdol, are you sure this guy is over here? It feels like we've been searching for ages." Scarlet complained, taking a drink from her water bottle. It was a hot day, a lot worse than the other days.
Or maybe it was just the pressure that was on them now, considering Holly only had a few days left.
"He's somewhere in this part of the city, Scarlet. It's his assigned sector from the beggars association." Avdol replied, looking back at her, then to some nearby stairs where Polnareff was sitting..and receiving money from someone who thought he was a foreign beggar.
"Hey, Polnareff, get up and give that money to that beggar!" Avdol commanded him, and Scarlet looked at the beggar sitting beside Polnareff. Avdol turned to him.
"Sorry. My friend here doesn't know much about this city." He apologized.
"Ah, you should have said you were a beggar in the first place!" Polnareff looked at the man, who seemed to get even more agitated.
"I'm a beggar who can't speak in public for professional reasons." The beggar muttered, and Avdol stepped forward.
"In this city, there's a beggars association that assigns people to different areas where they are paid to sit and do work. It may seem strange, but without those rules, there would be chaos." He explained.
"Even worse, you've hurt my pride! I wonder if I'd earn more money dressed up like a needy foreigner...Perhaps I should start doing that." The beggar murmured to himself. "By the way, you look familiar. You're Avdol, the fortune teller, right? I heard someone was trying to kill you, so you left to Japan."
"That is me. I've been looking for you." Avdol reached into his jacket, taking out the photo of DIO's mansion that they were able to get. "I need a favor. I remember you hear much and remember it all quite well, so I'll pay you handsomely to find the location shown in this picture. We're in a hurry. Can you do it?" Avdol handed him the photo, and the beggar observed it for a few seconds.
After that, he grabbed his shawl and threw it off of him to reveal a fancy and clean suit and tie underneath. Scarlet gasped softly in surprise. What kind of beggar could afford such an outfit?
He took out a hat and put it on as he turned away from them.
"I'm done with work for the day." He announced as he walked to a fancy looking car parked nearby. "I can find the place in that photo in three hours. Wait right there."
He got into the car and drove away, and the group all watched him go in silence until Scarlet broke it.
"Um, guys..where'd Iggy go?"
--
"Avdol...do you really think that sunglasses guy can find DIO's mansion?" Polnareff asked as he sat against a column in the same area the 'sunglasses guy' had left them before. It had been a while.
"If he can't find it, then no one else can. He understands the streets and geography of Cairo better than anyone else in this city. Believe in him and wait."
"Yeah, but...we looked around for three days and couldn't find it. And this guy's supposed to find it in three hours?"
"You keep on repeating yourself, Polnareff! Can you just calm down and be patient?" Avdol sighed, when Scarlet spoke up.
"I hate to say it, but I agree. It feels like we've been waiting here forever. We should have gone with him." She said.
"He doesn't allow strangers to ride in his vehicle." Avdol explained.
"That's dumb. We could have paid him." She muttered.
"Scarlet, Polnareff, I know it's hard not to be anxious about all this, but we have no choice but to trust those who live in this city." Joseph said, and Scarlet frowned.
