Liliana smiled as Cory rushed into the assembly hall, talking a seat beside her and next to Riz. Her smile fell when she saw his red face and rapid breaths but she chose not to mention it as he intertwined their fingers and grabbed her hand tightly, holding it against his thigh.
"That was a beautiful display of the musical aspect of the school" Miss Carter said "Now, for an insiders view of the school. Please give a round of applause for Alya Nawaz"
The assembly hall erupted in cheers as Alya walked towards the microphone. Liliana nudged Riz, checking he was okay as he seemed nervous. He reassured his friend that he was fine and she shrugged, turning her full attention towards Alya.
"My name is Alya Nawaz. At my last school, only 10% of students were white so when i heard about this new school, i was excited because it was an opportunity to study and make friends with a new and diverse group of people. We were meant to integrate. We were meant to make friends and we were meant to be a success story"
Liliana smiled as she glanced over at Riz, who still looked worried. Cory looked like he was going to lash out at any minute and Miss Carter and Mr Bell looked really on edge, making Liliana worry.
"But we're not"
Liliana glanced around the room in confusion as she saw visitors and students start muttering to one another. Liliana gripped Cory's hand tighter, knowing something dramatic was about to kick off.
"The only thing that's been successful has been my Dad. My dad's screwing the headmistress, that's the only bit of integration going on here"
Alya ran off the stage as the assembly hall erupted into a mixture of chatter and obnoxious laughter. Liliana stared at Riz who threw his head back, clearly annoyed with his younger sister.

Liliana walked towards the main entrance of the school, leading the visitors out. She smiled at them as they left, spinning round to head back to the sixth form area.
She began the walk along the corridor alone, thinking about the events from earlier and making a mental note to speak to Riz later, to make sure he was alright.
Liliana jumped when she saw Jordan on the stairs, smiling down at her. He walked down the steps, leaning against the wall as he smiled at her.
"Jordan, you've got that smile like you're planning something" Liliana stated "I don't want to be involved"
"Did you know Jaime was Cory's baby?" He asked
"Yes" Liliana nodded "He tells me everything"
"Did he tell you that Candice convinced me the baby was mine, and Cory didn't do anything to make me think otherwise?" Jordan asked
"Cory probably thought he was doing the right thing" Liliana said
The girl attempted to walk up the stairs but was stopped when Jordan wrapped his hand around her wrist, pulling her back slightly.
"Do you know how many girls Cory has slept with?" Jordan asked "How many hearts he has broken?"
"Jordan-" She began to speak as she tried to pry her wrist out of his grip
"Cory's gonna break your heart" Jordan said with a dark chuckle "You're gonna end up just another butt of a joke"
"Why are you being so horrible?" Liliana said
Jordan glared at Liliana as Cory came through the double doors, looking angry. His face was a deep shade of red and his chest was rapidly moving up and down.
"Cory gets everything he wants" Jordan said with a slight chuckle "The girl, Captain of the Rugby Team, the kid"
"You don't want a kid" Liliana muttered
"Cory doesn't appreciate what he gets" Jordan stated
"Jordan, get your hands off my girlfriend right now" Cory warned
"Make me!" Jordan shouted
Suddenly, Cory rushed up to his brother, tugging Liliana out of Jordan's grip and taking her hand, leading her away from him.
Cory sighed and pulled her in for a tight hug, resting his head on hers as he regained his breath. He sighed and rubbed her back as he kissed her on the forehead.
The couple were interrupted by Riz walking down the corridor, slamming his fist into the lockers as burst of anger jolted through his body.
Immediately, Liliana rushed upstairs towards Hayley's classroom, knocking on the door and smiling at the teacher.
"I need to borrow Hayley Booth, please"
Hayley followed Liliana down the steps, embracing her boyfriend in a tight hug when she saw him as Liliana and Cory walked away.
They walked into the sixth form hub, Cory going to sit with Naveed, Dan and Jake and Liliana going to sit with Nasreen and Shannon.
"Has anyone seen Alya?" Liliana asked
"She went into the caretakers cupboard" Nas said

Liliana opened the door to the caretakers cupboard, shutting it behind her. She sighed as she switched the light on, revealing Alya sat on the floor.
Liliana sat beside Alya. The two weren't at all best friends but Liliana knew Alya wouldn't talk to anyone if they didn't ask.
"Alya, you doing okay?" Liliana asked
"My Dad is going to kill me" Alya scowled "I don't know how i could be so stupid"
"You were angry" Liliana said
"What's Miss Carter going to do?" Alya asked worriedly
"She'll do what she always does and not make a big deal out of it all" Liliana said "Whatever happens, i've got your back"
"I thought you hated me" Alya admitted
"I don't agree with some of the things you do but i could never hate you" Liliana said
