Cory walked into Riz's hospital room, closing the door gently behind him. He stared at his best friend and then proceeded to walk over to stand beside his bed.
Riz was sporting a halo brace. His shirt was off, the padding on his shoulders to hold the brace in place was clear.
"Are you awake?" Cory asked shakily
"Who let you in here?" Riz snapped.
Cory was taken aback by the aggressive tone of his best friends usually calm voice. He frowned and stepped backwards, giving Riz some space.
"I'm winding you up, you div" Riz chuckled.
Cory chuckled, stepping forward again. Riz snorted slightly, clearly thinking his own joke was the funniest in the world.
"I really am sorry" Cory said "It was an accident, you know that"
Riz smiled weakly, as Cory did too
"I know it was, it's just the way I fell" Riz stated
Riz chuckled to himself, making Cory lean on the bed bannisters with a sigh.
"Doctors reckon i would've been alright, if you weren't such a fat git" Riz chuckled
Cory chuckled, nodding his head.
"Oh, man" Cory sighed "I feel awful"
"So you should!" Riz smirked "What even happened to you, you were so out of it that whole game"
"Liliana" Cory said bluntly
"You guys broke up?" Riz scoffed "You've not even been going out that long"
"She said 'i love you' and it just, threw me off, I wasn't expecting it" Cory said "It just seems a bit soon"
"Nah, you guys have known each other for ages, you're different to other couples" Riz said
"I guess so" Cory said "She feels guilty though, she reckons all this is her fault"
"It kind of is" Riz stated
"We don't need to tell her that" Cory smiled
"Talk to her later; make sure she knows you love her too" Riz said "Oh, and that i'm not annoyed with her"
"I was gonna go to hers after coming to see you anyway" Cory said
Riz put his hand on Cory's, smiling up at his best mate.
"You're gonna be okay?" Cory asked
"I hope so" Riz said

Josh strolled down the stairs when he heard a knock at the door. He swung it open, smiling when he saw Cory. He directed him upstairs to Liliana's room, smiling gently at him before going back to his own room.
Cory pushed the door open, frowning when he saw Liliana curled up in her bed. She was still in her uniform and Cory's heart broke everytime a sob escaped her lips.
He sat on the bed next to her, resting his back on the headboard as he played with his girlfriend's hair, sighing to himself.
Liliana rolled over so she could face him, her eyes red and her face puffy. Cory moved himself to lay next to her, grabbing her hand and holding it in between them both.
"I'm so sorry, Cory" She said
"It wasn't your fault" Cory said "I told Riz what happened and he doesn't want you to blame yourself"
"I should've known that saying something like that would have such a big impact on you" She cried "I've screwed this whole thing up for you"
Cory shook his head, holding the girl against his chest as she cried. He kissed the crown of her head, tears gathering in his own eyes because of the heartbreak and pain she was having.
"Lil, it's okay" Cory smiled "Riz is gonna be okay"
"It's not about Riz" Liliana mumbled
"What's it about?" Cory asked gently
"You're not going to get into the academy" She stated "I just feel so bad"
Liliana and Cory both sat up. She turned to him, crossing her legs as she sat facing him with a sad expression. Cory placed a hand on either leg, gently smiling at her.
"I love you" Cory said "I love you and it's okay, i'll go to a different academy, okay?"
"I love you too, Cory" Liliana said
Cory chuckled and kissed the girl, holding her tightly.
